I was comparing C8 thread topics to all the other Generation topics.
Take the time to take to look and you’ll see what I meant. Like how much air to put in my tires and how to wash a car?
I try to see topics from all angles. I have never changed oil. My cars have never been torn apart in my garage. I did change the headlights on my Titan with help from a buddy and I was over the moon about that project. I don't know any Mercedes models, I could not identify a Corvette further back than a C4 reliably. That's me, as funny as it may sound I'm actually not a car guy to that level. I want to have a cool car and I want to look good in it, that's the extent of it. I'm an IT Manager. I get frustrated when people call because their printer doesn't work...and it's unplugged or their email "isn't working" and I'm like what did you try? Did you close and reopen Outlook? Did you restart you PC???? I speak computer and they don't. Some of them don't care to, but their effort can be frustrating at times.
There is a good point to what @Vega$Vette and others have said. These cars will be our cars. So there is a responsibility to know facts for ourselves. Say I ask questions here and take action based on what someone said that voids my warranty or screws up my car. That would be on me. People on here my not know what they are talking about and may not be very upfront about that. So, it would behoove you to know facts for yourself. So, I see things from both sides. I see forums as a resource of people who have a similar interest as myself, it is a place where I can get a quick answer or advice, but there are also formal sources of information as well like manuals or a Chevrolet mechanic. More than anything I like being here for the Brotherhood. I enjoy interacting with you all.

I’ve been a member for 18 years. Follow C2, C5, C6, C7 and now C8 topics, as I’ve owned several of each, I’ve never seen so many stupid things/questions as I see on the C8 threads.

You are probably a nice guy in real life, but you come across like a condescending jerk. You think that labeling what people write as 'stupid' is not condescending? Not nice, buddy. Let's keep the forum a welcoming place.

I'd much rather answer a "stupid" question, than what we TOO OFTEN see which is "read the manual". Giving the page number, is better. Giving a screenshot is even better yet. Some good natured ribbing is alright, but too many keyboard warriors seem to want an ego boost. Hey I've probably been guilty too, but aspiring to improve is something at least....
Wow and all this time I thought that was the purpose of the forum to help each other out! Is there a new rule that says you have to read every post or respond to those that one condones stupid?
It’s amazing the help I’ve got here and on a variety of topics in off topic. I’ve saved tons of money and time.
By the nature of any forum posts and questions are repetitive. If you have an issue that is important to you, you want a quick answer.
Imho 90% of the folks here are great and helpful but like anything there are those 10% that like to rock the boat for no apparent reason.
I don't know what's worse, stupid questions or multiple threads about the progress of a person's C8 build and its progress through the factory and shipping status & delays?

Wow. I am so glad you already have whatever Corvette you want to have. But those of us ordering and eventually getting new C8s...even if they are not our first, sure are excited about the whole process. I would say if you don't want to read about the progress of forum member's builds, don't open the threads about that.
As far as the questions go, ignore those threads too...
What is it with people here today? Have they forgotten they were newbies and new owners at one point as well??
This new C8 mid-engined Corvette has drawn in a lot of people that have never owned a Vette. Subsequently there's been a plethora of questions not usually seen in these forum(s). In addition, this has been the greatest departure from the Vette norm, also sparking a lot of "unusual" questions.

Yep, the Forum is for all folks. I’ve been a gearhead since ~13, understand most folks, even Corvette owners are not. Recall Jay Leno had a “car guy” guest on the Tonight Show years ago who asked “Why don’t you talk more about your cars?" He said "Because most of my audience doesn’t care."
Gearheads can be boring to most of the public! I try to communicate to both on the forum, sometimes using Sidebars for very techy stuff only a few care to read!
During most of my career (unrelated to cars) the majority of time said little about cars, folks didn’t care. BUT it was a big relief for me to get away from the pressures of work when I got home. As in your case folks calling to say their printer is not working! Got wrapped up with cam lift, lobe separation, advanced/retard etc.
Asking questions is what we should all do, ignorance by definition is a lack of knowledge, that's OK, stupidity is difficult to fix. The only thing I would encourage is to try and use the search tool. Often the same question you may have has been asked many times and the answers are already here. There is no "Shell Answer Man" on here, nobody knows everything, I know I learn something new pretty much every day I'm here.
Ok. As I said comparing C8 to the other generation’s forums there are many unusual questions asked. (Does that sound better?)
Nothing wrong with the proverbial “no such thing as a stupid question” however there is value in an answer that to some may seem condescending. It may inspire people to take the time and put out the effort to learn more than the quick answer. Like “read the owners manual”
“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”

It seems you're being attacked for making an observation. I get what you are saying and it isn't incorrect. This car has expanded Corvette ownership by about a factor of three, so there are new owners that feel like they fell down the rabbit hole. When you get an increasingly diverse owner base, you will have that. There are some absolute morons that bought the car because it sure looks cool and are lucky to know the front end from the back. Corvettes of generations past were, by and large, the same folks buying their next Corvette. Oh sure, some new blood came into the fold, but NOTHING like what C8 has brought in. A lot of the first time younger buyers gravitate to FB and I won't even comment on that, this place has pretty solid info by solid experienced people.

I 100% agree, it's almost become unreadable, read the owners manual and do some research on the internet or books to educate yourself about corvettes and its culture. Thank you for saying what I've been thinking for years.
EXACTLY! Totally agree! I mean can you believe the NERVE that people have? Coming on a Corvette specific forum, heading to the model specific section and having the sheer audacity to ask a question about that particular Corvette? It is too much to bear, Good thing people like us are around to put them in their place, am I right?

Knowledge, Ignorance and Teaching ...all come in different forms! Some have the ability to share, and others have the Greed to keep the knowledge intact..It makes them feel Superior!
The owners manual is not the clearest set of instructions ever written. It's 345 pages long, and some critical information about operation and maintenance schedules is scattered around - not always in the sections where one might expect to find it. There also ambiguities. And even if someone has read it cover to cover, they are not likely to have photographic recall of the contents. While one can (and should) download it, because in that form it is searchable, its not always easy to search for information on a feature if you do not know the name of the feature. For example why does my car sometimes seem to hang in a lower gear after I have accelerated quickly - look up "driver influenced gear selection". Who knew? Why does the audio change when the top is lowered? etc.
