A friend of mine bought a 24 non Z51 car with 3 miles on it and made it to 17 miles and failed. This was about a month ago during the strike, no trans replacement to date, still waiting.
Are you folks suggesting the redesigned ones might have a higher failure rate, or is it similar (i.e. some fail, but most don't)?
The information that was released by GM and published in a magazine indicated that the latest design changes are "unrelated to reliability or durability". Make of that what you wish. The changes were 1) revised cooling system, and 2) a case change that makes it unnecessary to add extra fluid for tracking. Both the case and fluid pan were redesigned. In the tech link article, at this link, the external difference in the case and pan bolt pattern is discussed.

That's a strong statement, it's not like they said "oh ****, this thing can't be fixed, we have to redesign the whole thing." It was some internal baffles to prevent fluid slosh.
I just don't think a $100k car should have the problems a C8 has, especially after being in production for over 4 years. I have bought several less expensive cars that lasted 200,000 miles with no problems.
Mary is putting profits first, and buyers last.
Yes, Drove it out of the dealership on 10/28/23 and after 50 miles drove it back. Needs a new transmission. They told me that they are on back order and don't know when they'll be getting one to replace mine.

Yeah, I've read their statement on this as well, but official statements can also sometimes be missing details, or even misleading at times. Back in the day of C6 Z06, they mentioned it was just a few defectively machined LS7 heads causing the problem in their TSB (or whatever it was), and that it was all fixed post a specific day on 2011, but owners still had the same valvetrain issues on engines built past that date. Their statement on 2024 updates having nothing to do with reliability definitely makes me happier, but we as consumers should still keep an eye out for ourselves : ) After all, if they stated they fixed reliability issues, it would make the news, and could open the door to litigation, so they might not be inclined to revealing all the changes made...
Just a simple C8 question for 2024 owners. Has anybody with a 2024 had transmission problems.
Thanks
I picked up my 2024 C8 on 10/3. I have 1k miles and my CEL come on 11/12. OnStar stated that it was a communication failure with transmission to engine. Took to my local dealer and they couldn't find out why this happened. This was my 50th b-day present to myself. I don't feel confident in driving the car anymore. The engine does not sound the same. I am sad about this but what can one do? Keep driving and pray that nothing bad happens??
