Default C8 arrived , now I experience it

I’ve been part of a “ car “ family since my dads post WWII car enthusiasm. I got to eventually drive many many great cars once I was of age and ride in many beforehand.
(Corvette tidbit : I restored a 1963 and took it to a national NCRS Top Flight )
I try to look at cars from the engineering perspective of their time .
Had no real intention of buying a C5 … then I drove one . Absolutely amazed by what the engineers had accomplished . I bought one ,literally , on the spot .
After watching the Leno interview with the head of C8 engineering I ordered one. Z51.
Looking forward to the post 500 mile break in to see first hand what the engineers have accomplished. I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed.

This is a 2024 Z51 LT3 HTC with most of the “ low key “ appearance options . By that I mean no big spoilers , wings, etc.
Put close to 200 miles on it yesterday.
The more my wife and drove it the more we liked it . For a cruise with a new engine we were in Tour mode most of the time . Totally comfortable . Nice that we could “ relax” the side bolsters and spread out a bit .
I’m 180 lbs and my wife is …… not saying , but we are relatively medium sized. No sure how a 250 lb guy gets comfortable.
What I can say at this point compared to my 2002 C5 Z51, Ferrari 360 coupe , or my wife’s 350Z this wins without a doubt for traveling comfort .
I continue to be amazed at what the Corvette engineers can accomplish.
Looking forward to passing the 500 mile mark.

( BTW I am often asked to compare the Ferrari 360 and the C5 . My impressions are the C5 is a street sports car that can easily be a race car, the Ferrari feels more like a race car adapted to the street . They both are of the same “ generation “ from their manufacturers , have almost identical performance , however they get there with an entirely different engineering design .Again Kudos to Corvette for doing it at one third the price point)
More impressions to follow

Up to 356 miles
Here is an observation , not a complaint , just the way it is . The Bose in my C5 convertible sounds better than the Bose in the C8. I think the speakers in the C5 are larger , but I’m no audio expert.
Maybe it’s just the acoustics or me. Probably me.

Awesome. You are on the way to pure satisfaction.
Never drove a C8 but bought a new Z51 and took delivery in April. Been nothing but pleasure since then, no regrets.
I have owned C4, C5, C6, and this C8 is by far the best.

I agree, the 2LT Bose sound is not that great. I played in bands for years so I know sound. I have tried every adjustment setting, still disappointed.

As an NCRS member it was nice that the dealer sent EVERYTHING with the car . Plastic seat covers, steering wheel cover, build sheet , window sticker, etc. , every tag , all of it .
I have safely stored it all for the next buyer if they care about any of it .
I did the same with my 2002 C5 . Little bit of history.

I saw a speaker from a C6 once I think on this forum (when I also discovered that it sounded like crap), and it was the cheapest speaker I've ever seen in my life, and I used to install sound systems in my college days, so I've seen a lot. My opinion of Bose completely changed at that point, and not for the better. That was a good example of the power of marketing in this country.

2LT is an interior trim package.
Performance exhaust/NPP would be the exhaust.

I think he was talking about the sound system on the 2LT (and 3LT).

Well , I made 800 miles . Been working it up to redline a few times. Exploring the different driving modes , handling , shifting points. Certainly no disappointments in sport and track modes .
Did an oil change just because “ I “ wanted to . So simple. This week I will cut open the oil filter( we do this on aircraft piston engine filters regularly) and see if there is any break in debris. Might be minimal but I’ll take a look anyway.
