You sir, got a deal. I honestly hope it's an anomaly. I want the prices to stay high because it keeps my value high. Before I bought I wanted a deal too. But none were available for the car I wanted. Took 2 months to locate and that dealer wanted 20k over. I gave him 10. I know I'll never see that money again but I would like most of it!

Honestly I hope ICE cars become more desirable when all these godforsaken EV's keep coming out.

If I spent 70-80k for a brand new car and the advice from the people who designed it was to break it in gently, I would follow their advice realizing that they know more than I do. A person could go for a gentle drive 250 miles away and come back in one day and be done with it.

On this car I am inclined to agree, because I don't know much about it and will err on the side of caution. But I know that in the world of performance motorcycles, the "slow extended break in" is largely a carry-over from the 1970's... Metallurgy, lubricants, machining processes and all sorts of things are light years ahead of where they were back then. I have broken bikes in on the dyno or at track days... Most tuners and builders will tell you that they don't need a long break in... Hell, every single Kawasaki sportbike is run on the dyno to redline to make sure it doesn't explode and they record the HP output to that VIN, to ensure that it's within spec. That's a motor that was built on Monday, being run to redline under load on Friday... Had 34 bikes over the years from all the Japanese makers, a lot of Ducati and Aprilia, tons of Triumphs, etc...

Only one that ever had a failure was a Triumph, but there was a bad batch of them out there, where the ring gap wasn't set right and the ring would push on a thin part of the top ring land and snap off a chunk of the left piston... always the left for some reason, and it would take out the valvetrain and cylinder but leave the bottom end 100% intact and not a single fleck of metal in the oil. Really weird, and oddly specific and consistent failure...

But again, not knowing much about the car and never having owned a DCT, I am inclined to follow the manual on this one, doing the 500 mile oil change and then going to town...

Stopped down to my local dealer in my town. They have a 2LT Z51 in Red Mist at $1000 off of MSRP. If I didn't already have an order placed......
