Another mirror tap here (the cheap set of three from Amazon, though of course I only use one) and clipped to the visor.
Visor mounting is cheap, easy and out of sight from outside the car. I don't need to remove it or cover it up when I exit. I do need to keep a hat handy for when the sun is low.
I also run a V1, car is a 1LT so no powered mirror, any power hookup suggestions? currently using the coiled wire plugged into the 12v under the glovebox...TIA

Run the power wire down the passenger A-pillar and then under the glove box to the outlet.

Reason: spelling
BLUF:
1) Mirror tap works. Just choose the correct pins or you'll fry your side mirror. It's EASY to do apparently. Also blendmounts diagram has the WRONG PIN #'s on there, so be careful.
2) V1 works great with JBV1. Probably the best way to run JBV1 is to use a carplay AI box that enables JBV1 to run on the infotainment screen vs a cell phone since the app is blacklisted from Android Auto. This lets you use the entire screen for JBV1, or you can run split screen with JBV1 and another app like a MP3 player or something.
How have you guys plugged in your Valentine One in the C8?
there is a fuse box behind the waterfall. The installer used that box to tap into a spot that he verified did not pass any current when the ignition was turned off. It took him a good while 2 hours to find a suitable spot. He is the lead tech with 30 years experience at Beach Auto Sound in s. Cal. I also had him mount the blend mount which does slightly interfere with my field of vision but I still like it there under the mirror. I also bought a new but discontinued Lg phone and a pro mount to run the android only JV1 which uses my iPhone 13 as a hotspot. I am very satisfied with the installation and the look of the vehicle as well as the excellent V1S2 valentine with this combination. The cost was $1100. For all parts and installation which was worth it to me but of course my wife thought I was nutz. Your mileage may vary.
Black to black, red to red...stay out of the gray wire little box. I had to play with the pin/post connectors a bit to get power but it works great with my Escort 360...do Valentines now 'shut up' after notifying you of a radar alert or do they keep squawking? I had one some time ago and got rid of it due to that never ending noise. That and the AZ heat would make it occasionally stop working...the Escort can take the heat.

They continue to alert, but there is a mute button that cuts the noise level or turns the sound down completely. You choose. Been that way for as long as I've owned one, about 10 years.
Must have missed that feature...iow, you could set it to automatically to shut up after an alert or you had to press a button? The Max does this on auto. It was really the heat stroke mode that was the deal breaker...it would occasionally pass out in the AZ heat. I think Car and Driver noted this in one of their tests too.
I use JBV1 so it isn't an issue for me (sometimes I will get a couple of beebs before a false threat is filtered) but as I remember there settings in V1 for how long it beeps before muting automatically and it can be tied to signal strength. If it is a real threat I prefer to manually mute to make sure I don't miss it.
