I admit, I'm very green to this kind of powertrain but when the vehicle is started cold & after the engine heats up the O2 sensors & idles down, I shift to Rev & back out of the garage. It feels like a high stall torque converter & doesn't feel like its actually connected. Another way to explain it is like I were slipping the clutch if it were a standard. Anyway is rolls out in reverse & I put it Drive & leave. It still feels the same but not near as bad & by the time I'm at the end of my driveway (1/8th of a mile) everything is fine. The concern is the initial reverse really is soft/mushy & it doesn't seem to matter what the rpms are.... 2k rpms will get you the same as 1.5k rpms & so on.
Does it "creep" in both reverse and drive? I.E. will it move on its own in reverse at idle with you just taking your foot off the brake pedal. When we did a fluid change and it was a bit low (no codes or sensors tripped) I lost my creep. I added some DCT fluid and it was back and acted "normal" again.
Normal. It was a little weird for me too at first. Then I realized, it is an automatic-clutch and does feel a little like a manual transmission.
Remember there is no torque converter which allows for slipage.
I am amazed at how well the engineers programmed and control the engagement and shifting of the gears.
Well not GM!
