I'm shopping tires for my new wheels. I guess the good news is the Pilot Sport 4S comes in every size,, but tend to be at the upper end of pricing. I've had good luck with Continental's on my C7. I haven't had a Firestone tire in a while. Last ones I had were noisy as I remember and I wasn't overly impressed overall.
All that said, anyone have thoughts on Indy 500's? Price point is good but maybe a tad harder (340) than I'd like. Thoughts?

The last set of Firestone tires that had was in my 2000 C5 - Firehawk Runflats. I actually thought they were very good tires.
However, haven’t heard much about Firestone tires in recent years. Continental and Michelin make excellent tires so those would be ones to give serious consideration to for your car.
The OEM tires were developed to work best with the car and car developed around the tires.
Every decision that goes into making any car is a compromise, and the same with the tire. Mileage/Grip, Dry Traction/Water Shedding, etc etc. You may be able to find tires that deliver better performance in an area that has more importance to YOU, but overall the OEM tires are more than likely the best "all around". As with nearly everything else, You get what you pay for. ........................................ ........................................ .............(Except that the C8 IS and incredible performance bargain...............................st ill a compromise)
I haven’t heard the name Firestone in years. I didn’t realize they were still in business. I’m a Michelin man for sure. Whenever I have been talked in to buying another brand in the past I have always regretted it later. Go Michelin or go home. Sam
Firestone equals may pop I’m old enough to remember tire on corvette in 70s going flat new tire replacement put on it goes flat on 285 in Atlanta traffic at rush hour. I won’t even look at Firestone for my lawn mower
The fact that Firestone doesn't make a tire in the size that fits a C8 is pretty much a deal breaker, even if it was a good tire. The TireRack or Discount Tire is your friend.
I hit a hoe (not a woman with questionable values, a yard tool) on the turnpike in my C7. Wiped out my non-runflat. Called Triple A home in 2-hours. That said, I understand you can get stuck. Probably won't buy run flats though.

I'm using alternate sizes,, Firestone has those sizes. I've shopped Tire Rack for years and Discount tire as well to a lesser degree. Read somewhere that Discount Tire bought Tire Rack.

I take it you don't follow Indy Car Racing. They are the tire supplier.
On a slightly different front, wonder why Goodyear has such a limited selection of tire sizes. I could get onboard with the Supercar 3. They were my go-to for years. Couldn't tell you the last set I bought although always had good luck with them.
I don't think most people know where their tires are made or where the company is based out of. IIRC, the only major MFG's in the USA at this point are Hoosier and Goodyear (Cooper was bought by GY in 2021).
I've only had experience with Continental DWS and Pirelli P-Zero's recently. Both are great.
Bridgestone is the way to go IMO had great luck with them getting high mileage on them (50 K +) and they are reasonably priced. Will be the tires I will put on My C8 when its time.

I have never in 55 years of auto ownership ever bought Firestone replacement tires. My one year old 72 corvette had OEM Wide Oval Firestone 70 series when I bought it with 18k miles. Within a few months they were worn out and I replaced them with GY Polyglass G70-15s that lasted 50k on the rear set and 68k on the fronts!! My dad worked in a Firestone tire store during college and he said he would never buy Firestone tires for reasons he never said to me growing up.
