Okay, so over the past month or so….
New dash is in! No more bubbles on my 3LT. PUMPED
Going away for a week for work. Dropped it off the day before I left. No problem.
I had the paint issues around the headlights too so I figured, what a better time to drop it off and get that done.
Get back from my trip and I have surgery on my wrist the next day. Minor, but still knew I’d be down. The pain was supposed to take 3 days. It took 3 weeks. Very frustrating but whatever. I finally get my car back!!
The day I get it back I get the Borla S Type on (Sounds amazing by the way. I love it)
Finally, I think I have my car how I want it and I’m good to go.
First time having it in the sunlight I notice a chip on the bumper near the emblem. Basically dead center. Looks like they didn’t sand and prep the car at all. I can’t even use touch up paint because it’s under the clear.
Next, I notice a 3 inch scratch on the inside of my windshield on the window tint. So now I have to try to fight with the dealer to get that resolved too.
In addition, it almost looks like the mesh area near the windshield is warped/slight dented now? It was very subtle but enough to make me question how much they took care of my car, if at all.
It’s just a car, right? Whatever. But I get annoyed when there’s no care taken or no attention to detail with anything

It's frustrating because we are true Corvette enthusiast. They are not just transportation.
We could easily buy 2 nice cars/suv's for the price of a C8. We have pride and want our dream cars to be built and fixed correctly.
So I understand. Good luck.

Frustrating because people have no respect for their job and the job they do for others in todays society. For those of us that do we get highly irritated being treated like we should be happy with subpar.
I have started doing a walk around with the service person at the pickup. Making them talk me through what was done like they do when i get to use their loaner or rental. The dealer I use actually takes photos of your are when you drive into the service department. Some fancy imaging system.

First of all, sorry for your issues. Secondly, thanks for the heads up. I also recently developed the bubble issues on the dash and I also have front tint. The parts are on backorder right now but hopefully, if I give them polite request to be careful due to the tint, I'll be OK.

I had this same issue with a couple small chips prior to getting my headlight chip fixed. They re-aligned the headlight and painted the bumper without proper sanding and prep as GM wont cover that - GM only covers the headlight repair and re-paint. Like yours, mine was under the clear coat and looked like hell in some lighting conditions it just stood out. The clear coat overspray made the optics worse and the chip looked worse than before the bumper repair. My dealer acknowledged that they should have offered me at an additional charge for the proper prep work which I would have happily paid. So It bothered me enough, I spoke with the dealer and they offered to give me a significant price break to repaint and fully prep the bumper correctly - looks perfect now. Although it cost me a few hundred extra I was happy with how my dealer handled this. I am guessing this has happened many times.

I would feel the same way. Hopefully the dealership will make it right but none of this should happen.

Maybe look into using a different dealership for future work. Good to hear you are happy with the Borla S, thinking about going with that as well.

Not all SUVs run $70K. I know mine certainly did not.

OP - it is a shame that getting a quality job done these days is a challenge. Hope your dealership will work with you and get this resolved to your satisfaction.

Darn. May I ask what year is your car, mileage, and if you leave it outside? I really want the 3LT, but I'm having 2nd thoughts, but hope it's a thing of the past on '24s. Thank you.

You could buy 3 BRZ Limiteds (top of the line), which would be less than 100 grand, and it's a nice RWD car.

If the issue with the wrist was resolved that would be the priority. Everything else are minor inconveniences. Best of luck.

I cringe every time I think I may have to take car to dealer.
its ashame I just take care of the little stuff myself.
most dealers are not competent with doing a good job.
last time even my dam alignment was a big pain in the *** and had to tell them about c8 rear caster and what to set it at.

I have a 2022 (will be 2 years at the end of January) with about 12,000 miles. It is outside most of the time but has XPEL ceramic tint which keeps the interior cool and blocks out most of the harmful rays. Not to scare you more but, when I was just at the dealer, the rep mentioned that they have several dashes on backorder for the same issue.

Confirmed. This is what they told me but didn’t offer any resolution. I get it, but just wish I knew because I would have just got it painted right

Dealer actually will reimburse me for new tint so that’s pretty cool. Very unexpected.

For the paint, unfortunately they say they only paint where it’s needed and clear coat. I understand the premise but wish they would have told me.

Isn't prepping the spot part of the process? Unbelievable.

And which years are the problematic dashes? Is that fixed on '24s? Hope so. Still want to look at a 2LT, but really doubt it looks as upscale as the 3LT I test drove. And a 2LT is not going to have the steering airbag cover in leather, and neither the Alcantara roof-lining. But I'd have an immensely larger pool where to choose from if I go 2LT. Thank you.
