Hi crew,
My wife took the car out for one last spin and stopped at a couple stores and came home with this. I'm having a panic attack because I don't know if this can be fixed. It's more of a scratch than a gouge but still I'm pissed. Disclaimer not pissed at the wife but the scratch lol... Any thoughts??
First put a drop of water over the scratch to see if it disappears...If it does, then it's most likely just the clear coat that been scratched....
Now if you drag your fingernail over the scratch and if it catches, you'll first need to gently sand it down and then compound and polish to remove...
If you're not comfortable with doing this then a good paint detail shop should be able to fix this...
Oh, and if the scratch is through the paint you may want to try Dr Color Chip to fill and repair the scratch which I've had great success with in the past..
the car is being used it is going to get some damage. Live with it or take it to a shop who can try to buff it out if not it can either be spot touched up but no matter how good it will be there if you cant live with that then have it professionaly buffed if that does not work a body shop can paint it. That is in order of how much it is going to cost. you dont need a new panel. On my c7 driving it home from the dealer I got a spot chip on the front bumper abotu 3 mm I touched it up and lived with it. My 2023 just got backed into by some numb nuts at a parking lot. That is going to be fixed by replacing all the involved panels ( $$$) insurance. Sucks but the alternative is a garage queen and the second owner will brag he never used it.
As said above if it catches a finger nail, it will have to be repainted. A good bodyman would do this for less than cost of a new part. Being on bumper fascia you might consider tackling it yourself. Remove, wetsand shoot entire part and clear coat.. There are some very high quality rattle can exact match paints available. I have fixed many splitters over the years. I buy my paint from AutomotiveTouchup.com out of Louisiana. I keep all of my black parts Carbon Flash just so I can fix myself at any time.
I keep telling my wife how complicated the car is to drive. You know, drive settings, modes, info screen, Z51, traction control, power this and power that..... she never wants to drive it. Just fine with me. And if she did want to drive it, it would be with me and never just to go shopping . Keep them spooked and enjoy the ✌️.

Try gently polishing the scratch out and see where you get. If not to a level of satisfaction, either live with until other blemishes need to be fixed or you just decide to get a pro detailer to make it look like new.
And sorry to see the scratch, but things happen if you drive the car.

Exact same boat here.
I told her she needs to be taught how to use the car, which she turned into "needs to learn how to drive".....and now refuses to even consider driving it and otherwise "hates it".
Win win for me and saves me the argument when she asks to take it shopping. That was, is, and will always be answered with a "hell no".
There are solid suggestions here, IMO your best choice would be to try the least risky option first and see how it works out. But if you are not sure, eliminate the possibility of making it worst by consulting a professional before deciding which route to take.
Don't feel bad. Last Friday my wife came home with this. Apparently, someone ran into her Equinox in a parking lot & took off. Just damned lucky it was not the 'Vette...
