Default Some help needed 2021 3LT

I joined the board back in 2019 when I ordered my 2020. Some life events happened and I became a 1st time Dad at 50 years old. The car was not practical.

Jump forward, and I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter, but my marriage did not last. So at 54 years old it's just myself and my daughter whom I share 50/50 custody.

I am done with dating etc. so the need for more than 2 seats no longer applies. I have a chance to purchase a 2021 3LT Z51 with only 900 kms (559 miles) I am in Canada...

Car is listed at $106,000 Canadian (78,640 US)

I have been reading the board every day since 2020 and know about the potential dash issues, headlight paint, but can anyone let me now if this is a good deal, any other issues I should be looking for?

All help will be appreciated. BTW, I will be trading my 2019 Camaro ZL1 which I drive year round with snow tires, and YES, I would be driving the Corvette year round with snow tires.

This is the Carfax report

https://vhr.carfax.ca/?id=d31mIFcHmr...zh5xWrnc4+qngY

Thank in advance for all your help!

As someone who owns both a 6th-gen ZL1 and a C8, my only caution is you may find the acceleration and torque of the C8 a disappointment compared to the ZL1.

The C8 is NOT going to throw you back in the seat like the ZL1 can. The lack of brutal acceleration in the C8 will take some time to get used to, You can feel the C8 is quicker than the ZL1 but it doesn’t show it by pinning you back in the seat.

Where the C8 shines is ride and handling. The car just feels more balanced. If I drive my C8 and then immediately drive my ZL1, the ZL1 feels like I’m driving a school bus with that big front end. But oh, the acceleration is so addicting that I can overlook that it's not as nimble as the C8.

Now don't get me wrong, I like my C8 a lot. Driving with the top-down is a ton of fun. I just personally need a little more excitement from my performance cars. Nothing beats a good butt pucker when you jump on the accelarater. The ZL1 has the butt pucker factor in spades, the C8 does not. Both are great cars in their own special way. It will take you a little time to get used to the C8 coming from the ZL1.

I am not too concerned about the power difference because the car is only driven in the city, I test drove a c8 and found it had plenty of power, TY for your input. Any suggestions about the 2021 I am looking into?

Post the build sheet here for us to see what it has for options. Check this forum 'C8 for sale' section and compare U.S. prices for comparison to that build.
The car fax doesn't say much, except that it was serviced. What was done? Get the VIN# and see if a Chevy dealer up there can run a history.
Good luck.

I was enthralled with my C8 for the first month of ownership then reality set in and I discovered I’m a torque junkie. You won’t have the issue of driving both cars back to back so it probably won’t be a big deal for you like it is for me. I’m looking to trade my Stingray in on a ERay as soon as my dealer gets an allocation. Like I said, I need a little more excitement from my performance cars.

You didn’t mention if the C8 you’re considering has the front lift or mag ride shocks. Both are must- have options for me. I use the front lift almost every time I drive my C8. The ZL1 has mag ride shocks so I personally couldn’t own a C8 without them.

You’re facing a bit of a maintenance pickle with the transmission. Even though the car ony has 559 miles, it is reaching that 3 year mark. Chevy says the DCT transmission fluid needs replaced every 45,000 miles or three years which ever come first. You’re looking at $450 US dollars in fluid alone plus two to three hours in labor cost. Then you're going to have to have the primary transmission filter replaced at 7500 miles because that's when GM says the transmission if fully broken in. I'm coming up on three years of ownership of my 2021. It has just over 10,000 miles. I had the transmission fluid replaced in December prior to living in Florida for four months. All I can say is the maintenance on this DCT is crazy. I would definitely check with GM and/or your Dealer on the transmission fluid change for a three year old car with only 559 miles. You don’t want to give GM an excuse to void your warranty, especially on that transmission.

It has Z51 but not MSRC so it will have a slightly firmer ride than a non-Z51. Just be aware of that.

Nice car, but... per the build sheet, the new 2021 price was CAN $97,413. Now they want CAN $106,000 for a used, three year old car?
Maybe supply/demand in Canada warrants this, but not here anymore. Also, as I stated, find out what was serviced.
Best of luck. You'll love it no matter what.

Good points by bullmarket. Seems like the price is too high.

In Canada they are not easy to come by. I did a Canada wide search and these are the prices.

https://www.cargurus.ca/Cars/l-Used-...orvette-c32028

The good news is that I PAID $80,000 Canadian for my 2019 ZL1 and they offered me $73,000 on the trade in...
I really do appreciate all the comments...

the 3 year fluid change in the US would run$1,000-$1,400

would not own a C8 with an extended warranty; owner of a '20 Z51 3lt
Warranty Contacts

C8's have 5 cameras, 28 modules, sensors, solonids snd the DCT.

The two go to people for warranties on the forum are Dennis Fichtner at Laurel Chevy and Todd Sutherland at MacMulkin Chevy. If you decide to get an extended warranty, send them your vin and ask for a quote; see what they can do and betting they will be at least half of a dealer quote.

I have the Platium Zero deductible 7 years 56,000 miles.

Warranties can be transferred if sold to a private party or a refund obtained on the unused portion if cancelled

I believe it must be purchased 30 days before your factory warranty expires (or before 35,000 miles) , I thinkwhichever comes first

Keep in mind there are price increases every year and the price goes up as the mileage increases.

Add paying $9K Canadian over MSRP for a 3-year-old car doesn't appear to be a bargain.

Since the car has been sitting around it might not be the best of ideas to ignore replacing the fluids and drive it as if it is a month old.

In Canada the cars have not come down in pricing ;( This is the lowest mileage 2021 or 2022 available in all of Canada. There is still a year long wait list to order in my city.

I appreciate your input, TY

Dealers are selling (and getting) this kind of money for cars that have over 9,000 kms.

IMO, the best choice to buy a used cars is a low mileage one-owner car. Also, I would not be too comfortable knowing a technician from a Porsche dealer performing maintenance of any kind on a Corvette.

My opinions are not intended to crash the party.

I appreciate all the opinions, the car just arrived 2 weeks ago, and is a 1 owner car. The maintenance (oil change) was done at a Chevy dealer, I looked at the service records.

Again, TY

My mistake, I should have worded my comment to buy from "the original owner".
