Is anyone else disappointed with how poorly the recirculate function of the HVAC system keeps exterior odors from entering the cabin? I sometimes wonder if mine is working properly. If I got behind a diesel or passed a dead skunk in my previous vehicles, I could hit the recirculate button and minimize the odor, but in this car it smells like the skunk is in the cockpit.
I too don't like how 'recirc' works. When it is cold out, I always like to recirc in order to avoid getting cold air coming in. It still seems to let cold air in after the cabin is warmed to the 72 setting temperature. My C7 worked as I expected. My Honda's work as expected.
'Recirc' should not allow outside air in, none, nada, nill, .....
It sucks ,. it doesnt not seal the outside odors out. I go thru I95 in NJ often and just a tad north of Newark there is a marshy area that STINKS I close up everything and have on re-circulate long before I get to the area but as soon as I get to the area the entire cabin stinks like out side , Same thing with my 2023 silverado. My wife has a 2020 GM Suv that seals up tighter then a bulls Azz in fly season, No odors enter the cabin . I had the silverado in for service and asked about it and they said its impossible . Some day i may take things apart as it may be the seal around the cabin filter

That odor is Jimmy Hoffa still decomposing in the Meadowlands.

It doesn't work that way. Recirc lets in about 15% outside air to keep the CO and CO2 from building up in the cabin.
When it is very cold outside temperature, I do NOT get cold air coming in thru the vents on my other cars or my previous C7.
You must be 100% correct for the C8 because I can feel cold air coming for the vents with Recirc-ON and Fan-Off and cabin fully warmed.
It is horrible. The recirculation in the C8 is like it does not even exist. I live near many dairy farms and the smell when they spread cow manure can be breath taking.
