My 2024 Corvette Stingray finally arrived and I couldn't wait to start dressing it up. I started with a carbon fiber X brace and complemented that with a set of carbon fiber panels to cover up that big expanse of grey plastic in the engine compartment. I didn't realize I had covered the sticker with the engine family emissions code which is needed for a VIN verification. Without a VIN verification I cannot get a title in California. So here is how you could help me. Pop the hatch on your Stingray engine bay and take a pic of the sticker. It should be near the cooling system expansion tank cap on the right hand side of the engine compartment and it will probably start with "Group" followed by a series of numbers and letters. If you could email or text a legible image to me at gerryg@starstream.net or 916-203-7761 I'd be forever in your debt! Thank you.
Make it easy, just go to a dealer, ask to look at a C8 and take a bunch of pictures of whatever ya need. Got to be kidding. AND BTW, THE VIN IS PLATE/LABEL IS ON END OF DRIVER’S DOOR.
I normally don' argue with the uninformed but this time I just can't resist. Taken in order of response; 1) The State does not need to see it, it just needs to be the correct code and it is only used once to register the vehicle, 2) It is not an act of fraud because the state is not being mislead with a fraudulent code, 3) It has nothing to do with the VIN. How do I know all of this? The VIN verification inspector told me. He also explained that the "Engine Family" or "Group" code is the same code on every C8 Corvette ever made from the first unit sold to the next to be sold. Finally, he was kind enough to complete the State's form and leave that box blank until I come back with the proper code. In closing, to all who were kind enough to respond to my request, thanks for nothing.

You are the one who initially used the VIN remark. Reread your Post. why not call the dealer and ask for a picture of what you need? Better than asking on a Forum. Use of your dealer makes much more sense than soliciting from an Internet weary forum group…as you can see. If it so common to all just have your VIN inspector call his buddy at the Group Everyone Uses Code Department for the code.
And to be fair, there's a nice little ignore button if you don't like my post. And then you dont have to give me a smart *** response either.
But yet you did...like a little baby...I 'd much rather call whiners on whining than ignore, ignore is for whiners anyhow.........Dude asked for a simple favor and people get panties in a wad.....
