Hello all, new member here and very excited to be a first time, 1300 miles, C8 owner. I did a search not only on this forum but multiple forums and only found very little info for this topic. This being my first mid engine car I was a little shocked to hear what sounded ;like a sewing machine behind me whenever I drive. And more specifically in lower gears at around 2500 rpms but can also be heard at higher gears and higher speeds. Through some research I found its the fuel injectors making this noise. Through all of my research prior to buying the car I didn't see anyone talking about it. My question to the community is do you all here this noise and either enjoy it, disregard it, can't stand it or don't hear it at all? I'll admit to being very sensitive to noises so maybe its just me but its very annoying. There is a youtuber who felt the same and did a video installing sound deadening behind the seats and around the inside window (coupe) just not sure if I want to go down that road. I know this will be a non issue with windows down but here in New England that can only be 6 months or less and I like to drive year round. Any thoughts, ideas or lambasting welcome!
It is a common complaint and it is actually the direct injection pump, not the injectors. The HTCs are quieter than the coupes. I don't know how much additional insulation will help.
For me it's a machine and machines make noises. I don't notice it all. I also don't notice and can't hear or feel when it switches from V8 to V4. People bend over backwards to find something to complain about now days.

I was simply putting out feelers to see if others had the same insight, I was hardly complaining. People with nothing to add to a thread always seem to feel the need to respond.
23 Coupe. I don't notice any engine sounds except when I floor it.
Before I took delivery, I was thinking that I would probably add insulation, but have never felt I needed that.
Mine is almost totally quiet. Hear very little noise coming from the engine. “I” don’t think loude engine noises are normal. When I picked up the car if it made a loude ticking sound I wouldn’t accept it.or if the engine made a laude ticking I would bring it in and have it fixed. I bought a Lexus that had a loud ticking noise. I brought it in for service and they added some kind of dampener that quieted the motor down. I’ve owned a 2015, 2017 and 20019. None had any undesirable noises. If they did I would have service repair it.

Thanks for the responses. It seems to be a normal occurrence that most just tune out and some don't hear. It could be the difference between a coupe and HTC. Like I said in my first post I'm very attune to noises so it just annoys me. Otherwise I think the car is incredible and a blast to drive!
Yep. It's near the top of my list of dislikes about this car. Fortunately that list is relatively short. Some will say the sound doesn't exist because they can't hear it. Some will say its a machine so it should make noise. I agree with that, however, this isn't a pleasant noise nor is a sewing machine sound anything I'd associate with "performance" unless I'm making upholstery.
If you don't hear it, you need your hearing checked unless you are aware of your hearing issues already.
It sounds like an old singer sewing machine and it's just a part of having a DI engine that is sitting inches away from you.
Fact is my C8 coupe is soo quite compared to my prior two C7s I don't hear the NPP exhaust except at WOT. However the tire an road noise, although less, is still there. My sound system plays one of >1500 songs in shuffle mode from my flash drive.
Automatically starts when I start the car and seldom off! Set pretty loud. Drowns out that noise. Never hear my engine.
Also Tadge (Executive Chief Corvette Engineer) they used a lot of insulation to block engine noise, a foot from your ear. Even directed some of the good intake noise close to your ear! They even found dismantling a Ferrari ME, they used 19 mm glass behind the coupe cabin. He said the were surprised as that is >twice the windshield thickness. He added Ferrari does nothing that adds weight that is not needed! They copied the thickness.

I disagreed. My Corvette is almost totally quiet. I do not hear the engine behind me. If your engine is making a loud noise, they might consider it normal because a lot of them do that. But mine doesn’t, maybe I’m just lucky
Everyone's hearing is different. A lot of us older folks have lost much of our ability to hear high frequency sounds, and don't notice noises that other people do. And even among those with similar hearing ability, a particular noise might be annoying to one person but not another.
If you can't hear it, try opening the hatch with the engine idling. If you still can't hear it, get your hearing checked.
I don't think there's much you can do to reduce the sound of the high pressure fuel pump. You could put some thin sound blocker behind the carpet on the rear bulkhead, but I suspect a lot of what you hear comes through the glass, and there isn't much you can do there.

You’ll join us before you know it.
I don’t hear it. I’m still blasting the classic rock that caused my hearing problems in the first place.
Well I don't have a C5, C6, or C7 and it's a totally different car so not sure how those are relevant to this thread but thanks for throwing that in. How about a link or links to the multiple threads......
