Default Engine vents

Is there a good way to prevent water during washing from going through the engine vents and getting the engine and surrounding area wet ? I've noticed this leaves water spots everywhere.

Some vendors sell covers that insert into the vent area and prevents water from entering the engine bay. Some owners have just used towels to cover the vents. Other owners state to not worry about water entry as this not that much and cleans up easily.

had the blocks but never used. Don't get much water in the engine compartment on a wash and I just wipe mine down; about 1 minute.

If u want I darkened the fiber glass in the engine compartment then ceramic coated

Go to Harbor freight and get a moving blanket for $10. Lay that across everything in the engine compartment and make sure nothing is in the way when you close the latch.

Wash your car

Open engine bay hatch and remove blanket when done. Wipe up any residual water spots and go enjoy the day.

I have a set of those vent covers and they work pretty well. The water here sucks and leaves spots if not dried right away that are then a pin to clean.

This is a great idea. I so something similar on one of my cars with hood vents that would normally cause the engine to get doused on a wash. Hang up the blanket, let it dry for the next time.

Water in the engine bay after washing isn't a bad thing. It helps with the engine bay wipe down after the wash.

I normally don't worry about the water entry since it seems to be minimal. The Vette goes out in the rain as well and I don't try to stress.

I bought this for $7, removeable and doesn't leave sticky residue and able to reuse few times.

Exactly, I use the water to wipe down any road dirt accumulated in the engine bay. Of course, clean water on the glass. When using the hose to rinse, I spray at an angle to minimize water intrusion. When I open the rear hatch, it's no different than a quick wipe around the door jams.

Yep, usually an issue with folks who are just getting their C8! A few washes without foolishly directing a hose spray into the vents AND the glass gap, that are there to vent hot air in the engine compartment, will see the 2 to 3 oz of water that gets in AND IS NEEDED!

I find in runs down to the front of the car, under the window etc.. Easily picked up with the corner a large towel. Then I wipe the dust and dirt that comes in thru the fender scoops every time you drive. Then use the dry part of the towel to wipe up all dust on flat panels, engine cover etc.

I wash the C8 as I did my other 5 prior FE Vettes and as I will my 7th an E-Ray (sitting at 4000 in BG lot!) I use a hose powered soaper (nope, don't use my air compressor.) I rinse as I always did with a gentle flow from top to bottom. Then dry. At that point open rear Hatch and deal with the small amount of water.

When I first got my 2020 there were hard to get off water sports. Don't hear much about that now and as were guessed it was probably the thousands of gallons GM uses to check each C8 for leaks. Perhaps they now treat the no doubt recycled water better that they did initially. I used two Meguires products to eliminate those as delivered spots: Water Sport Removal AND Ultimate Black. Never needed Water Sport Removed again. Only used the Ultimate Black after the 1st time a few additional times in 3 1/2 years. Then only on the flat surfaces in the engine compartment.

Prior to buying my C8, I thought this would be a bit of a pain if the vents were not covered prior to washing. In my opinion it is not a big deal to let some water get in the engine compartment. I just wipe up what little water enters the engine compartment. It takes less than five minutes.

BTW, mine is a daily driver.
