I had one (XPEL) but the installer got a thumb print behind it and I could not take it (OCD) and I removed it. A forum member gave me the other half of his "screenprotech" product and I installed myself. I have no issues and no complaints with it but would rather have the "glass" (iPhone style) like I do on all my other
In both cases, you must use soap/water for the install and a heated towel for removal...on the DIC and/or gauge cluster.
Back in the day, phone screens were plain Jane glass and easily scratched. Often plastic. So everyone bought screen protectors. Not sure why? Those phones ended up in a junk drawer anyway. When Verizon offered a new fancy one at renewal. Today, phone screens are hard as hard is. Apple glass is ceramic coated. Same with your Info screen. Its unnecessary to add any protection. Except you've always done it that way. So why change eh? Some say they want a screen protector for smudges. But aren't you just smudging the plastic you installed to not smudge the glass? And a glass screen protector to protect the glass already there? Your touch screen would need a ball peen hammer to make it work. Too many things to worry about and scratching my Info screen is not one of them. Take reasonable car using it. All that is required.

Very impressed with kit including everything you need. Even the squeegee is perfectly proportioned for all the nooks and crannies.
I used distilled water. Not sure if that makes a difference, but couldn’t hurt.
My advice: Don’t “overwork” minor imperfections, they work themselves out during the curing process.
Mine had a small rubbery string from the cutting trimming process that caused me to pull up and ruin the first attempt. Fortunately, I ordered a spare.
Really easy to install, just don’t get in a hurry and overthink it.
ALSO, there are several YouTube videos showing installation.
I've had a FiST for 10 years that has a touch screen. Never had a protector on it and there's been no problem. Of course some Corvette owners are more OCD than others, but I personally don't find the need for a protector.

I agree with you about putting a glass cover on the screen. I think it defeats the purpose. Zagg makes an screen cover that is smudge free. I have one on my iPhone and I never see any fingerprints. I wish they made one for cars. I would put them on all of mine.
