If a dealer were to offer a C8 (2024) at invoice what would that price be? Just wondering if there is a price that would be some sort of a measurement for the difference between the MSRP to determine a price in making a deal.
Actually there is a 6.6% margin from MSRP to invoice. In addition there is a 3% holdback calculated by multiplying MSRP minus freight by 3%. There can be incentives to the dealer and or to the consumer in addition that can take many forms. Previously these incentives on the C8 have not been in play but seem to be becoming more and more likely.
So, an $80,000 example would have a total profit margin possible of basically $7680 under normal circumstances.

Is it safe to assume the C8 will have employee pricing soon as well? I have been looking to buy a C7 but used asking prices really don't fall in line with the new car prices coming down.
Just a point re C8 prices coming down. Just got an email from Kelly Blue Book as had checked their "Buy Your Car Offer" October 2023 before I put my 11,000 miles, like new condition, 2020 3LT Z51 C8 on Autotrader. They were offering ~$73,000. Turnes out they just send your inquiry to local dealers. The large Chevy Dealer in town did offer a cash deal of $73,000. The Caddy dealer, who has some high end used cars, scanned my door post and said wholesale is ~$75,000 and was willing to give me that. I sold it for $5000 more.
Kelly sends me email's periodically and today its "offer" was $64,000! $9,000 less and don't know if any dealer would actually give me that. Of interest, the Caddy dealer who offered $75,000 in November 2023 still had a 12,000-mile 2021 Corvette Vert listed for $89,000. I see it is still in their lot when I pass and just checked it's now listed for $85,000!
What happened was..numerous base and extras annual GM price increases along with higher production brought the present MSRP fully up to the market (and then some)… new C8s continue to sell from low $70s to low $90s-ish. The prices paid hasn’t budged much..but the MSRPs have in a big way!
So if paying $85k for a C8 at a $4k DISCOUNT to MSRP…makes you feel better than paying $85k at a PREMIUM to MSRP…then great.
Real money and real prices are what matters.
MSRP is Manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price. It was low for years..it’s high now. But the ACTUAL price PAID for a new C8 has barely budged imo. And in lower trims has acut ally edged HIGHER over recent years. Even though these ads tell us they’re practically giving away a 2LT for $95,000. Seriously lol. Do they hope you don’t notice the Z06 & ERay! The $95k plus C8 has real competition both internally and externally. The $70k C8 practically does not.
There is always an inherent cost to being an early adopter. You are are in at the market which is tight. What these types of threads highlight is some folks will continue to use the pricing issue to justify not buying a car. The first day, today, and tomorrow.
Well, it took 5 model years to saturate the C8 market, but we are there now...many dealers have C8's as stock & are selling at MSRP or below
I get what you’re saying, but that isn’t really true, Covid years shouldn’t count, supply on nearly all cars was well below demand. Even Nissans and Chryslers were selling over MSRP, take those years out and it’s 2-3 years which is still pretty good.

Just an FYI - 2023 cars with under 10K miles are basically going for $15K under MSRP at auction on average. That to me is a steal... can drive the car a couple years for less than the price of a Nissan Pathfinder if you search. I have seen examples go for near that on this forum (1 car) - i asked what he got) and on EBAY, I asked a few guys with best offers accepted. anywhere from 13-15K Under MSRP.
If you look around, we now have several dealers selling new C8s well below MSRP. I recently came across 6 to 8k off at one dealer. Now if that would then take off GM employee discounts on top.... lol

You do realize it doesn't work that way? To receive actual GM employee pricing, you must be an employee or very close relative. For selling the car, the dealer will receive a 5% of MSRP minus freight commission. They can only sell at the GM price minus any current incentives. A dealer could sell anyone at the GM price but do not get the 5%. You are not going to see GM pricing minus $6,000.
I have a buddy who was looking to trade his 2023 3LT HTC, which was a touch over $100k 9m months ago....the dealer just offered him $75k, then bumped it up to $77,500.
I looked my car up, 2023 COUPE, and according to KBB, I am looking at being ~$18k down from my initial MSRP
I feel sorry for those who paid WAY over.
Seeing two, well optioned 2023 models sitting at $18k - $25k under MSRP for trade makes me sick. Deprecation is such a bitch!!!

Your post is based in reality, absolutely.
18K-25K depreciation in one model year from full MSRP is reality whether current owners agree or not.
There are a few guys on here recently fist pounding about C8s depreciating only 18% in their first 5 years. No idea what hat they pulled that number out of but it is fantasy land for sure. Normal SR pricing and rates of depreciation have returned now, the price gouging along with all the other BS is history and will be for the Z06 in the no too distant future. None of this is the least bit surprising.

I would suggest that those in denial try and trade their car in and see for themselves firsthand. I would advise that they mentally prepare for the "bad news" ...

Which basically brings the SR pricing (MSRP) back to what they were in 2020 before all the price increases over the years.
