PowerAmp app issues with Google
I can use Poweramp with bluetooth / or usb and get it on the main screen to select music manually but not using voice commands with Google. This was a breeze on my Fords (even on a 14 year old car) but not on this new Chevy.
I will note that Poweramp seems a little finicky and you must make sure the options are just right.
Poweramp shows up on my screen and displays the tune playing,,,,issue is if I say Hey Googgle.... Play Gimme Shelter by Poweramp it comes back "PowerAmp must be installed first" and then gives me alternatives to play the song....like Spotify etc.
Can you use the voice activated "Hey Google" to actually play tunes from Poweramp without having to touch any control? I am trying to get PowerAmp to work hands free just like it does in my Fords so that I only need to use speech commands.

How are people connecting to waze on their C8.
Way 1:
You can down load the Waze app to your car (not your phone, your car). I do not know if it comes as a pre-loaded apop on 2024. But to download it, you must connect to the internet. To do that you need to have a local wireless, internet enabled WiFi network - most everyone does - I assume you do, or have a data plan with OnStar. Once you have connected your car to your local network you can download certain apps to the car (not your phone). The vehicle must be capable of supporting the Waze app - from other posts it sound like the 2024 is capable. Once Waze is loaded, into the car, you still need an internet connection to the car when driving around so that the on board Waze app can download the necessary maps as you drive. You can do that several ways. 1) OnStar subscription to a data plan. 2) download maps while you are connected to your home wireless network in your garage (this is where others could help). Also, folks have used downloaded maps with the Google Maps App in the car successfully. While Waze on my phone works with downloaded maps, I do not actually know if the on board Waze app can do that. 3) put you r phone in hotpot mode. With iPhone I have a setting on the phone called "personal hotspoint". When I select that, it shows "allow others to join" which I turn on. It shows me a password. In order to allow the car to connect to my phone this way, I think need to go to the car menu and allow it to connect to my phone as an external network, and I must give the password to connect to my phone. Although on phone it is called a hotspot (the phone is the hotspot now), the car will see the phone as if its just another external network. But you must allow the car to connect and give the car the password. Once that is done, it will provide data to support the apps you have downloaded to the car. So, you are not "connecting" to Waze. You are downloading the Waze app, then connecting to the internet one way or another to provide the data that Waze needs. Because my set up is 2021, and I have an iPhone, my menus appears different on both the car and the phone, so while the principle is the same, I can't help with the details of setting it up.
Way 2
This is the CarPlay method. With this method you will use the Waze app that is already on your phone. Waze is running on your phone not the car. You already have an internet connection on your phone and a data plan for your phone. You know how to run Waze on your phone, right? If not, you need to get that working first. But to use CarPlay, you must set up a connection between your phone and the car. This connection is different (not the same) as the connection in Way 1 above. When connected to support CarPlay, you phone will show up as a connected device. In my 2021 menu, it is listed as a connected device under the car hotspot menu. Note this is not to be confused with the hotspot mode on your phone. Your car (or at least my 2021) can act as a hotspot and can (and does) connect to multiple devices - mine connects to my phone and my wifes phone. Once you have figured out this connection, you must still enable the CarPlay feature (or whatever Android calls it) on both the car and the phone. On my iPhone, I have a menu item that allow me to enable CarPlay. In the car, there is a menu item that allows me to select which phone will be the CarPlay phone. The other phone will still be connected, so that calls to either one can come through the on board system. You must also have both WiFi and bluetooth enabled on the phone and enable them to connect to the car. I think in this case, you may need to provide your phone with password that your car wants, to connect to the car. That password is found in one of the car menus. There may be a way to skip that step if you are holding the phone near the car as described in the manual. There are instructions for pairing the phone and for connecting it to support car play in your manual. But again, you are not "connecting" to Waze. In Way 2, you are connecting to your phone. The Waze app is running on your phone, but you car infotainment screen is showing you the map etc. As before, my menus are all different with a 2021 car and iPhone vs Android. So you need help from someone locally that is using carplay, with an android phone using CarPlay (or whatever android calls it. So I can help with the details.
In the past, I have posted all the images of the menus for the phone and car showing what these connection look like in the menus - but none of that will help I think. You need the equivalent set of images for the set ups with Android. My car has separate menu items for Hotspot, Networks, and Phones. I showed how the phone connections look in all three menus for Way1 and Way2. The phone also has menu items for Bluetooth, Wifi, and Carplay. I showed the images for what that looks like on the phone for the different ways. Maybe someone can capture and post the images of the equivalent menu items for the 2024 Google based infotainment system and the Android phone. I cannot.
