Default Valve cover missing something?

I just noticed my right (passenger) side valve cover has a threaded part with nothing in it. Should there be a cap or something there. Just goes to show how often I look at the engine ....

There was a thread a while back that indicated that’s normal - I believe that empty area is for a part that is on the HTC.

Posted on here several times. It’s an attachment location for lines on HTC. Some have threaded a bolt or plug for a more finished appearance.

How many miles are on this car? The motor is really dusty and dirty. Do the C8 motors get allot dirtier quicker than the c7's being a mid engine?

100% depends on the conditions in which you drive. ~5500 miles and mine is cleaner than the day I bought it (4 miles on it).

Mine has never seen rain, dusty roads, etc. and I wipe it down all the time.

Very true. Yeah I wasn't thinking about that. You drive down one dirt road and you are in trouble.

Thank you for that. I was thinking if they get really dirty quickly, I will have to find a new regiment of cleaning for the mid engine when I get it.

Thanks. I tried the search function for "valve cover" but after looking at 30 posts could not find the info. Just odd GM could not put a cap or something there. Update: at about 40 posts there is info so sorry about the repeat thread.

The car has about 8,000 miles but I use the car for skiing so lots of slush, snow, dirt, salt etc. and in the spring a lot of sand that was used, turns to a dust storm behind any trucks on my way home from skiing. Plus I drive in the rainy winter here. Its a 2021 and I have not cleaned the engine bay ..... Fortunately I don't enter show/n/shines.

<chuckle> Just yesterday I had a friend over while I was working on my car, and he pointed out the empty screw hole... I said a thread asking that question appears roughly once a month. And here we are

The coupe motors appear to get dirtier. On the HTC it is covered top and bottom.
