My wife and I have started downsizing into a new home after my retirement. My C8 had to go due to lack of garage space. I actually didn't mind it as much due to the current mediocre support and C8 parts availability from GM. We'll see how it goes once we've settled down with a new budget. I may pick up another older Vette down the road.

Sometimes you just have to make those hard decisions. As you say, Corvettes will still be around when you are ready to jump back into the ownership game.
In retirement, the wife (newly wed) decided that we would move from North Carolina where we each owned a home and effectively downsize. At that time I owned 4 vehicles and she had one. I had three corvettes ('89, '06 '13) and a pickup truck She had her beloved Lexus. One of the entering arguments to our home search was a house with a minimum of a three car garage and a ceiling tall enough to install a lift. Before leaving NC, I sold the C4 but I brought both C6's with me. We made the house fit the cars not the other way round. We did compromise on a few things. My beloved Silverado had to go, it was to big for the garage and living on the drive was not in her plan so I settled for a "sporty SUV (Which I hated after a week and finally swapped it for a Mercedes sedan). Life is full of choices and compromises. You have to make the ones that make you happy. This is what we did. I hope yours does too.
I also looked into local enclosed auto storage facilities nearby prior to selling the C8. The monthly rental for a storage unit is just too costly. Installing a four post lift would have been nice but is not option due to the height of the garage interior.

Enjoy your retirement and good luck with everything, hope it works out that you can pick up a corvette in the future maybe a manual?
Good luck with your next chapter. Hopefully something fun with four wheels is part of the journey.
I’m recently retired and although we talk about down sizing the grandkids are ten minutes away so we aren’t going far and between my wife and I we have five cars 🤷♂️.
When we moved from Ohio into a retirement hood in SC I decided my beloved C7 Z had to go. Yea 2 car garage. I figured I'd be done with Corvettes. Up north I had a daily and always a toy. Could have done the same in SC just never had a car sit outside. As someone said thats not a big deal. Had I to do it all over again I would have brought both the C7 and the daily and see how it worked out. You can always sell a car once you move if it does not work. Don't assume you need to sell before you move.
Lot of folks have one car and a golf cart. So we have an SUV and I've had a number of C8s. I really don't need a 3rd car as the weather does not require a daily driver.
