I just noticed this on the new C8 coupe I
just bought. Quite a bit of difference on the left and right side rear hatch gap. Anybody else have this issue?? Any suggestions for adjusting?? Thanks

Does look like an inconsistent gap between the sides. I would take it to the dealer and see what their body shop can do to get it more consistent. If they do not have a body shop (or a good one), see if you can get it done at a trusted outside shop with GM paying the bill.
As stated above, body panel gaps 'can be' inconsistence on Corvettes. Some I'd consider acceptable, but not that one. I'd recommend you take it back to your dealer.
I have noticed body panel alignment for C8 being Much Better than typically on C7s.
I was at the largest volume C8 dealer in my area, looking at exterior colors and wheel choices. They had a lot of new C8s in stock, maybe about two dozen for sale. I did notice a good amount of irregular panel gap on several of the cars that I checked out more carefully. I don't recall seeing so much of this before. Hopefully, BG isn't rushing cars through production and QC without checking for issues like this.

Has nothing to do with rushing, but rather the level of quality parameters acceptable to GM are wide - on what is a mass-produced Chevrolet.
Hi there!! Okay, after adjusting rhe striker, things lined up. I thought about it for a few minutes and determined there was probably more to this than adjusting the striker. I put it back the way it came and took the car to my local Chevy dealer per the advice of Chevy customer service. Even though I bought the car from another dealer, they were willing to help resolve the problem. I'm just waiting to hear from them about scheduling an appt. I'll let you know how things work out.

I think you are not correct, all they are going to do is adjust the same striker you adjusted and you will probably do a better job at doing it.
Thanks for the reply. You obviously had the same problem as I do. Before they do anything, I'm going to ask the dealer what their game plan is. If it does turn out that all they're going to do is adjust the striker, I'll take it home and do it myself. Again, thanks so much for your input. Much appreciated!
This would've cost $5,000 and two weeks downtime if it was a Ferrari or McLaren
I got an appointment at the local Chevy dealer to deal with my problem on the rear panel gaps. They wound up readjusting the rear quarters and rear hatch to correct the problem. Previously the hatch didn't fit flush with the roof either. All came out pretty good!!

it looks great.
What do you mean it did not line up with the roof ? Isn’t the only adjustment the rear striker for the actually hatch ?
Did they actually raise or lower the hatch by the hinges where it connects to the car by the roof ?

Good afternoon!! The left side of the hatch was a tad lower than the roof. This also showed up on how it fit by the left quarter glass. I'm really not sure how they resolved the problem to be honest with you other than what the work order stated. "Adjust and realign rear quarter panels, engine lid and rear bumper". I'm willing to bet they replaced the hinge. Rumor has it that could have been part of the problem. I saw no sign of shims on that left hinge at all. I inquired about the striker and was told it wasn't designed to correct alignment. After the hatch is positioned correctly, then the striker is installed. I don't know if this was any help to you. Thanks so much for the reply.

Thanks for letting me know, I am glad it worked out and your dealer took care of it,
