I have had my C8 for 3 1/2 years now. When I think about upgrading to the Z06, I realize that I really can't make use of the increased HP all that often. I live just north of Charlotte, NC and the traffic sucks here. I am in constant traffic and I can really only let loose early morning or late, late night. And then, I have more of a worry about tickets. So, my advice, is to make sure you are in an area where you can realistically use the extra HP of the Z06.

I concurr. I have the same and feel I have an incredly quick car. Quicker than any Vette or car I have driven. It accelerates so quickly it is at times a little unnerving. Most folks I know who have Z06, never race it, never track it, etc. They buy it for the swinging manhood aspect. When you see a Z06 at first glance you cant tell, typically the sound defines it.

I would say if money is no issue, but as much as you can, but if you are buying a Z06 to have the largest manhood, then rethink it. A base Stingray is even incredibly fast.

OP, for your use the Stingray is the better choice. It is a better all-around car and will be more comfortable on road trips.

The SR is a much better all-around GT car.
An E-ray is even better if you like the widebody looks & want Mo Powa. It's the quickest at legal speeds as well

I'm really leaning toward the stingray z51 lt2 with mag ride now.posting those horse power numbers really sealed the deal for me I think.

I love the thought of the flat plane crank in the lt6 and the sound but but I really feel for me it's a huge waste. I have a C7 z51 3lt and love it I'm not getting rid of it. The c8 will just be an addition. While I like to get on it once and a while I'd be lying if I said I ever really pushed it close to it's limits. With the stingray I'd save 40-45k over the z06. With my down payment I'd be financing about 40 percent of the stingray I want.

While I am a fan of Z51 for street use it doesn't really shine unless you are doing spirited driving. The way you describe your use you may want to consider putting the money towards an HTC or 3LT. But do get the performance exhaust and mag ride.

For what you say you will use the car for, go with the base Stingray. Still a damn nice car and one heck of a money saving.
