I went back and forth on this a lot prior to ordering. Ordered a non-Z, non Mag-Ride 1LT. I don’t track it. I cruise around at night, maybe do a monthly road trip and have the occasional 1/4 mi blast. It’s the perfect car. It rides like a luxury coupe. As good as any Lexus, Caddie or German sedan. My goal was to have a hyperfast, grand touring sports car and the Corvette does an amazing job! If I was into track days, then the Z51 would have been an no-brainer. Good luck with your decision!
If you're not going to road track it you need the Z51 package, if you're just doing passes at a drag strip, no need for Z51.
A 1LT is still a good value at $68k
Am I reading this correctly as it's confusing. Do you mean if you track it you need the z51? Thanks
Like everyone has said, if you don't track the Z51 isn't that big of a deal. However I would at least get the NPP. It's a big difference in my opinion.
I have a 2024 1LT without the Z51 package just NPP and spoiler
I don’t track my car so I didn’t see value in getting that option!
My mistake was buying one on the showroom floor without the Magride and waiting and ordering one with it
that’s my two cents

Kudos for your honesty on magride. California is ranked 47 in the nation regarding highway quality. The roads here in the Bay Area suck. Magride was a must for me. I could have sacrificed any other option if needed, but Magride was non-negotiable.

Maybe I should have said " road course track". Meaning tack driving needs the Z51 package for repeated hard acceleration, repeated hard braking, and repeated hard cornering.
A drag strip is just one hard acceleration and one moderate to hard stop and no hard cornering. Heavy duty springs and shocks, stiffer stabilizer bars, extra radiator, larger heavy duty brakes with extra cooling ducts, and aero pieces of the Z51 package are not required for a dragstrip.
Let's say if you were to drive a non Z51 optioned C8 on a road course and you have damaged your engine due to overheating GM may not cover the repairs because the stock car without the Z51package can not stand up to the punishment of road course track pounding.
Unless you will be tracking the car, you don't really need Z51. My 1LT non-Z51 was a great car. The mechanical diff and different gearing are better on the street imo.
Now, I will say, I did end up installing Z51 struts, Paragon springs, a Milltek exhaust and PS4s tires on Vossens. The tires, better alignment, struts and exhaust made it a very fun street car.
I have a non z51 non magride 1LT with performance exhaust. It rides fine for the roads near me without the mag ride but I also come from lowered cars that rode pretty rough. The performance exhaust I think is a must if you don't get Z51.
I have PS4S tires on it now and Autocross maybe 2-3 times a year. So far without the extra cooling the car has never gotten over 205 which I am more than comfortable with. The car does understeer but so does a Z51 on street alignment and how rarely I go I knew for the cost and effort of 2 alignments per track day I wouldn't utilise the camber adjustment.
For the drag strip no PTM means your launches will suffer compared to a Z51 car. Launching my car in TRACK- COMPETITION TRACTION sometimes bogs 1st after a little wheel spin, sometimes wheel hops, sometimes just shoots out of the hole perfectly. My friends Z51/magride car launches almost perfectly every time but for the drag strip if you get it right the non Z51 gearing is a bit better.
I would not take my car to a full open track day somewhere like VIR though. The brakes and cooling could not keep up with 10/10ths for a full session. But lets be real very few people track these cars like this and those that do seem to be very knowledgeable and use the Z51 as a starting point.
My 2021 C8 is without the Z51, but has mag ride. Added the garage door opener. I have ordered a 296 that will be delivered 2026. First corvette. I had to own one. Rides fine, I’m satisfied it. iI used to race in the 70s & 80s (motorcycles). No tracking now. C8 is slow but fun to drive.

Reason: Clarity
If I were on a budget but had to have a base C8 + $2,000 for options, I would pick the more functionality of Mag ride over the NPP. The extra noise does very little to enhance driving capabilities.
