Bought my first Corvette a couple of weeks ago. Never had PPF done before but decided to do a "full front package," ceramic coat the rest of the car, and windows tinted too. I paid a hair under $4K.
What is your opinion on these closeup photos of the job as delivered to me? Is it normal to have all of those seams in the ppf, especially around the mirrors? Some bubbles are air and some dust particles. These are just a few of the photos. There is a lot more to the story, but trying to get opinions without coloring anything and keep it short. Happy to provide more details if helpful.
I believe little bubbles might clear up on their own.
I don't like some of the bigger ones shown in your pictures.
I feel the lifted PPF edges near the mud-flaps will get worse over time.
Can you show to the service-provider and and schedule a return appointment for clean-up?
For $4k, there is little room to forgive for poor workmanship. I bet they fix it without any squabbling.
It’s the worst install I have seen! I am not exaggerating when I say I have yet to see a single seam or cut line on my install even after detailing it 12+ times.
Been getting my cars clear wrapped for over 20 years, it just looks like a poor install job of the plastic, either take it back and have them redo it, or get your money back and find a good ppf installer. I wasted a lot of money until I found a good installer
Thanks for confirming what I thought. To make matters worse they actually scratched the leather on the steering wheel and did not even tell me. They also scratched the brand new side skirt I had installed myself 3 days prior that was flawless. The car didn't even have 200 miles on it, I had owned it about 1 week.
I spoke to the manager the day after picking it up and seeing all of this. He said it was a great install and most of these problems would fix themselves. Denied damaging the car. I spoke with him and the owner of the shop today. They doubled down but said they had to review their shop cameras to be sure it wasn't damaged when I drove it in. Told me they have done a few ZO6s, which are more complicated, so mine is fine. They also ceramic coated over dirty paint in at least one area. This shop has 2 locations in town and nearly 2K Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars...just crazy!
They could not understand why I wouldn't trust their shop to "fix" this. I am supposed to hear from them tomorrow. But I don't expect any satisfaction.

Don’t talk with them on the phone DRIVE TO THE SHOP and walk them through everything wrong. As you do it point to each bad area and say, “you see that are you telling me that the best you can do?” Or…you you see that do you still say that looks fine?”
BTW, did you pay cash, check or CC. If by check you should try to put a hold on it. If paid by CC call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

Amex. I appreciate the advice. I do plan to give the owner one more chance to make it right. We shall see. If not will go through Amex.
Yeah, that is pretty bad PPF install. I would for sure talk to the owner, hopefully they will make it right. I for one will never buy PPF. I feel it is a waste of money. For sh*ts and giggles I called a few places around by me and they wanted $10K to do my entire Z06, and would tint the windows for free. They have to be out of their minds charging that much. I did do ceramic coat on mine, and some top of the line wax. That is all these cars need for a fraction of the cost of PPF.
Sorry to see this, but it's just another reason to not mess with such stuff. Too many questionable installers (probably couldn't make it as GM oil-change techs).

$10K(!), you too went to a rip-off shop too because my shop charges a fraction of $10K
The other side of the coin PPF WORKS!
I can say first hand it saved the hood on my C7 when a A-hole pulling a flatbed with a tractor on it pulled out from a side road then cut in front of me it was unbelievable how many rocks where flying off that tractor and bounding all over the road. As I slammed on the brakes but still going 65mph I could see a big rock come flying at me. It bounded off my hood them crashed into my windshield cracking it! At the first available spot I pulled over to assess my hood damage. And just like the previous member there was a large tare in the PPF but the hood had ZERO DAMAGE TO THE PAINT. So you can doubt all you want…PPF save my hood and the expense of getting the hood repainted.

Cars are made to be driven and to be enjoyed. So what you get rock chips. I am on my 4th windshield on my Jeep Wrangler.

Well, at least they didn’t install the PPF over a paint chip. I pointed this out a few times and the installer still forgot to add the paint correction before the install. I’ll wait until my annual PPF maintenance to have it corrected.
