Default New Owner - Maintenance Clarification

Been enjoying every minute of my 24 C8 that I picked up last month. I’ve read the numerous threads on the maintenance schedule, 1st complementary service, etc.

I just want to make sure I got this right, as this is a daily driver and I average around 13-14k miles a year and plan on keeping this car for about 2 years/30k ish miles

7,500 Miles (+/- 500): Oil/Filter, DTC (Free service)

15,000 Miles: Oil/Filter

22,500 Miles: Oil/Filter, DTC, Passenger Filter

30,000 Miles: Oil/Filter

Does this look correct?

Missing anything besides tires, wipers, etc?

Thanks and happy riding.

Some nuances.

The requirement in the owner's manual say to replace the oil when the Oil Life Monitor tells you to. For most people it comes on when they have reached one 1 year or 7500 miles since the last change. The DCT filter needs to be changed change at 7500 miles, 22,500 miles, and every 22,500 miles thereafter and may not coincide with the engine oil/filter change.

The cabin air filter also has a requirement to be changed every 2 years if the mileage requirement hasn't been met.

The DCT fluid needs to be changed at least every 3 years (there are are other factors). The DCT filter does not need to be changed at the same time unless it is also due for a change.

The engine air filter needs to be changed at least every 4 years or 45K miles. If you have an air filter life monitor it will tell you when it needs to be changed.

My dealer tried selling me a bunch of BS services like fuel injector cleaning at less than 5,000 miles. Lmao.

Good points, particularly for the “typical” Corvette owner. OP’s stated use case is much like mine as a Daily Driver so he’ll be almost entirely based on mileage intervals.

Mine is a daily driver and I've never reached 7500 mile intervals without having the change the engine oil/filter before. The OLM is generally down to singe digits between 6500 and 7000 miles since the last change. Always follow the OLM.

And even as a daily driver, I suspect the OP won't exceed 15,000 miles per year, so the 3 year DCT fluid change is likely to take precedence over the 45,000 mile interval.

Oil and filter 1 year regardless of mileage I thought also doesn't the DIC let you know when a year is up

Walter - oil and filter at one year OR 7500 miles - whichever comes first. (or sooner if you've been driving hard). The DIC does NOT let you know when a year is up, it lets you know when you should change your oil (which might or might not be at one year).

Yes, the Oil Life System will alert when it is time to change engine oil and filter, and will let you know if the 1 year mark is approaching with a Change Oil Soon message.
The Transmission Fluid Life System will not alert you when its time for the 3 year transmission fluid change.

When talking about periodicity of maintenance in terms of time, and not mileage, do we go off of the date the car was produced, or purchased? The car I bought on March 23, 2024 from the dealer with 4 miles on it has a production date of Nov 2023. Sat on lot for 3-4 months before I picked her up. Just trying to figure out if I should change oil in November of this year or March of next year. Definitely wont be at 7,500 miles by either of those dates.

If this was my car, I would do an engine oil and filter change NLT NOV 2024.

I've wondered about this. For warranty purposes everything starts with the purchase date so I think you would not be violating the warranty if you used the purchase date for the start date of maintenance requirements. However the manual says to change your oil when the OLM tells you to change it so if your dealer didn't reset it prior to selling you the car it may say you need to change it in November. What percentage are you at now?

Car says 75%. Im just going to do an oil change in November at home. Love getting hands on with this car. I havent looked in the manual yet for this answer, but can I reset the OLM myself, or does the dealer have to do it??

C8 owners that actually follow the manual requirements are very rare. There are thousands of car owners that simply drive the cars with no regard to what is required. Then they sell the vehicle to some unsuspecting buyer that has no ideal his warranty has been voided by GM for failure to follow the maintenance.

75% means it will likely go for 9 months until the monitor says it needs to be changed. You can reset the OLM yourself, the instructions are in the owner's manual.

Which dealer is that? Was this the only corvette allocation they had?

You can change the oil yourself and retain the warranty right?

I have found a happy medium between the chevy dealer doing it and doing it myself. I have a local muffler shop that allows me to come in put the car up on a lift and completely watch shoulder to shoulder with the technician that does the oil change. I then get a repair order that is completed and paid for and I have the receipts for the oil and filter that I bring to the event. Therefore, I am fully documented and I only pay 35 bucks for the oil change for labor instead of the horrendous labor charges and product charges at the dealership. So instead of a rape charge of $229 that my local Chevy dealer wants to charge me, I pay about $110 all total.
