I just can't ignore the physics, going 5# each lighter on the front and 7# lighter each on the rear going to DWS06 vs OEM will definitely make a more spritely street drive. Lived through it before..it's a thing.... 60 years of riding in and driving cars I have never experienced a catastrophic tire failer on the road. Never put a spare on ever and NEVER felt a heavy runflat was was a benefit.
Michelin zp tires are the best runflat tire for Corvettes, but not the best tire.
Hmm, maybe it's where we live? Had Discount Tire insurance on my 2020 C8 Z51 for ~$225 the week I got the car. Had a nail near the sidewall, one new tire and another nail in the center repairable with plug patch. Both Free. When I got my E-Ray in February 2024 drove to Discount Tire week one. Bought tire insurance. Had a nail in the left front, repairable. A month ago had a tear in the sidewall rubber, of my ZER Option Summer rear tire. No sidewall wraps showing BUT earned a new tire. That $650 345/25/21 rear tire, free to me! Nothing but Run Flats for me.
Bought Tire insurance for wife's 2018 BMW X5 SUV for $180. It had Continental Run Flats. Two new tires required as nails in the outer tread near sidewall. Two other nails repaired. For her current 2012 BMW X5 SUV about the same price for Discount Tire Insurance. Within 1st 6 months a new tire needed free to us as was the free repair of nail picture with plug/patch and balance yesterday with 22,000 miles for nail in center. Just ordered a 2025 X5 SUV "Hybrid." Week one will get Discount Tire insurance!

I wouldn't consider a nail in a tire as catastrophic failure with immediate loss of air pressure. What generally happens, you will get a nail in a tire( I've had my share of nails) then you realize that one tire is losing some air day after day, then you do an inspection and find the nail, then you get it fixed...ezpz. Anyone that ignores their TPMS and a tire loses all air while on the road deserves to sit and wait for road service for their stupidity. Literally the only way to get a modern low profile tire to fail in an instant is to hit a hole so large and deep that the tire sidewall gets pinched so hard that it ruptures or if someone cut a corner too sharp and curbs the tire so bad that it tears open the sidewall. I've never had a sidewall failure, I have had one front tire on my Genesis G80 Sport, which incidentally had the same size front tire as my C8, Developed a pinch bubble in the sidewal after hitting a hole so hard it rattled my teeth. Still no catastrophic failure and the Genny was way heavier than the vette.
I know we're beating a dead horse, but the one and only reason why GM went with run flats is because they wanted to save space by not providing a spare and tools, or a flat repair kit. Absolutely no performance gain in having zp tires.
