So I installed the following in my trunk to mitigate the heat problem. This Heatshield Products Stealth Shields 810001 for the air filter panel. And this: Heatshield Products STICKY™ SHIELD:180021 for the back side of the trunk liner.
I went for a 120 mile drive in 81degreeF day. Sun shining. Got home after highway and normal traffic and checked the trunk. No heat at all on the engine side of the trunk. Very bottom of trunk had some warmth because I ran out of the shielding material down there.
I call this good.
