Had my C7 wheels powder coated Gloss Black, had no problems, kept it 6 years. Don't know about the calipers, I think they have to be taken apart before they are powder coated.
it’s a fairly simple process, asked to see some of their previous work when you find a good powder coater. To do it right, the wheel should be stripped with chemicals and abrasives to get down to no finish at all, then powder coated from there. ….done right it should last 6-10 years.
curing a powder coat doesn’t hurt the wheels whatsoever. Millions have been done with no heat problems in the curing process. they are only heated up to about 300 to 350 or so.
I just went through this whole process about 45 days ago, at wheel refinishing in Fort Lauderdale. I was able to go in and ask every question that’s been asked here and answered to my satisfaction. My wheels were stripped down to the bare metal, then totally powder coated in black, then put in a CNC machine and the machine face was diamond cut off then the whole wheel was coated again with powder coat clear. . They went through the heating process twice. In the same shop on the same day Lamborghini wheels were being done, a set of ZO6 wheels and a McLaren. the wheel before with a black tint on the macine face, I wanted that removed stripped the finished wheel with the machine face now polished to a high gloss relection. cost of the whole process per wheel is about 200.

Glen, they look perfect! I'm thinking about having my 911 wheels done. Nice to have a local shop that does this quality work....
be careful with a high temperature cure of ht epowder coat it can alter the aluminum of the wheel and weaken it by changing the anneal on it.. Therer are low temp powder coaters. Do a search on it
I haven't had wheels on my C8 powder-coated but I have had wheels and calipers on other cars powder-coated. With the wheels make sure the shop has experience power-coating wheels. The wheels can be weakened if overheated. If you decide on a gloss finish be aware that the power-coated finish will easily scratch and scuff. You have to carefully clean the wheels if you want to maintain a pristine finish.
Regarding the calipers, I had both powder-coated and painted calipers. I will never do powder-coated calipers again. It's a pain because the calipers must be disassembled and rebuilt since the seals and pistons can't be exposed to the heat. With painted calipers, you just have to tape everything up. As far as which holds up better, I've seen no difference between painted and powder-coated. Hope this helps.
Take a look at some of the work Wheel Craft - a forum vendor - does with stock Corvette wheels. They do a PVD finish on stock wheels and will do a wheel swap with you. They have the wheels delivered to an installer in your area - you just pay the mounting and balance fees.
I did a wheel swap with them on my 2024 Lexus ES350 F Sport and am very pleased with them. They shipped the wheels to a local Discount Tire. I set up an appointment and inspected the wheels before they started the mounting and balancing. While mounting one of the wheels the technician noticed a slight bend on the inside of one of the wheels. I could drive the car but I paid for a wheel without any issues so I called Wheel Craft. They shipped another wheel to Discount Tire and took the imperfect wheel back no questions asked. Discount will box your wheels up for you and make sure they get back to Wheel Craft. It was a very smooth process and Wheel Craft gives you a five year warranty.
I had been given a few set of wheels first year into my c8 ownership by a friend. I had the wheels powder coated gloss black and then when I lost two rims to a pothole I had trouble finding a replacement set and then the added cost to powder coat the stock rim was an additional cost on both new wheels.
it was so annoying that I just bought a set of black oem rims with tires and sensor already mounted and balanced just waiting to be put on.
quite honestly it became so annoying I do not recommend the powdercoating of the stock rims.
i also found the polished lip version from the factory visually was preferred. For some reason visually the polished lip looks better as the stock silver wheel in all black looks too inset in the fender where the black with polished lip pops more (IMO)
hindsoghts always 20/20 so I’m sharing my opinion.i wouldn’t do a powdercoating again. Replacing a out of round rim with an oem rim is much much easier.
if you want a wider look then consider an aftermarket take off rim instead of powdercoating.
I realize it’s not a popular opinion. Whatever anyone decides with their own vehicle to make them happy.
you asked for opinions. I’m just sharing mine. I wouldn’t do it again.
Wow, that is excellent insight. Thank you so much. I never thought of that and now I'm hesitant. I have not idea what "polished lip version" is, but I'll look it up. Thanks!

I had my '24 Z06 Calipers Powder coated. Very pleased with the results and better yet, the shop I used did the whole project, soup to nuts. As an added bonus, when they reassembled the calipers they swapped out the dusty Brembo pads for low dust Carbotech ceramic break pads for free.
Pros: I didn't have to pay $7k for CCB's for the right to spend another $700 on factory Brembo Orange Calipers.
Cons: I had to give up my car for 5 days while my shop completed the work.
