Default Trunk heat shield

Has anyone tried the trunk heat shield from Blockit Ultralite trunk Heat Shield being sold by Corvette Central? Need to reduce the heat in the trunk.

I looked at the TKO package and realized it was just too expensive. The same insulation plus a gold liner is available on Amazon. Check the other insulation threads here for links.

I bought the foil backed self adhesive insulation sheets from Amazon. Took the trunk liner out and covered the outside with insulation. I didn’t do any “engineering studies” on the project but the trunk area still gets hot as bejezus.
You have a huge heat source right in front of the trunk area and the muffler system under it. (Remember, heat rises) It’s a freakin oven. No matter what you do short of installing an air conditioner, it’s still going to get hot.IMHO.

Heat Shield products from Summit.
If its good enough for serious heat its good enough for my trunk.

Inside trunk heat shields: Heatshield Products Stealth Shields 810001 (black fabric type)
ENGINE SIDE trunk: Heatshield Products STICKY™ SHIELD:180021 (peel and stick heat shield)

You will notice a difference.

Hot AIR rises. Heat moves in three ways: Radiation, conduction, and convection

How much weight exactly does this add to the car?

I did buy and install the Blockit heat shield and noticed a difference...now, its really warm vs hot. Easy to do and agree, its a bit pricey.

Doubt that will be noticed when it comes to weight.

I have the Block-It kit in my car. On short trips, it works great. Maybe a 10-15* difference from cold. Longer trips, the heat will go above 100 but less than 120. To really maximise cooling in the trunk, I would suggest any type of insulation mentioned here plus a trunk mat. I installed the GM "Jake" mat recently and on the short trip there was no increase in temp from cold. I have not had a chance to take a longer trip to see how much cooler it stays with just the insulation installed.
