Default Folding side mirrors

My side mirrors have always folded in after shutting the car off. Lock is set to passive lock. Got run into from behind the other day, very slow speed but enough to mess up back up carrier and warning light now on that hatch is open. Anyway, now they do not auto fold. I van press the switch and they will ⅚but not auto. The setting for auto is on. Any thoughts?

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins. These cars are basically computers on wheels, sometimes you just need to do a hard reset.

The mirrors fold during/after the passive locking occurs. Is the passive locking occurring with the hatch open indication? It seems to me that when I have the trunk or frunk open that the passive locking doesn’t happen. I could be mistaken though, in my garage I normally disable passive locking (after opening drivers door, press and hold the unlock button on the door until you hear a tone) and then leave the doors unlocked and the frunk ajar with the battery maintainer plugged in. The owner’s manual says passive locking should occur if the DOORS are closed, so nothing in the manual about the hatch having to be closed.

If the car thinks the trunk is open, the passive lock doesn't happen.

This! Same issue if the car doesn’t think the frunk is latched, it will not passive lock, and mirrors do not fold in.

If you use your key fob when you exit the vehicle and push the lock button one time the mirrors will fold in, provided you have set it up that way. Works every time for me

That makes sense.

Having the mirrors fold in is a nice feature in protecting the mirrors from accidental damage.
