Battery is about 5 to 6 months old and car is due to go to the dealer for a transmission swap but today but it won't start even with a jump?
I have the charger plugged in but I'm getting all kinds of errors now?
No codes are showing up on the code reader and I have tied to disconnect battery to reset but nothing?
Also when I try to lock it the head lights flash left right left right left right and the features aren't working ie: horn doesn't honk and mirrors will not fold in?
I had a dead battery once and could not get it to charge with a charger while in the car. Heard all types of clicking so I decided to pull it out and charge it freestanding overnight. It took a charge and alls been well.
12.7 when started and rises to 14.8
Isn't that too high?
I would consider it normal it is not in the red region on the dial. Here is the statement from the Service Manual:
"Depending on the battery state of charge and the vehicle electrical load, these values may be anywhere from 12.5V to 15.5V."
This, of course, is only while the engine is running. Even though the dial says "battery voltage", and maybe is measure at the battery terminals, that is also the same voltage everywhere in the system. There are multiple charging modes, each of which has a range of charging voltages. And its determined by a variety of factors - like the statement says.
The update status so far is the charger shows a complete charge and car starts fine with no errors.
I plan on swinging by autozone to see if they can run a load test on the battery?
I have not removed the battery until I know this one is bad.
I plan on leaving the charger on the car from now on.
Once I get test results I will post what they say.
Thanks!
Another possibility is you have a draw in the system.
The OP said he was on his way to a dealer for a transmission swap when the car wouldn't start. There are known conditions with a bad transmission that causes it to drain the battery and/ or prevents the car from starting even with a good battery (especially a faulty park sensor).
