Thank you all. None of the Tech, SA, or SM mentioned window indexing. I will telephone the dealership in the AM with andybump’s input close at hand. FYI, I reset the SmartTop to OEM using the armrest switch method.
What is this you speak of?? Never heard this before, please elaborate.
Update: I discussed indexing with the SA at the opening bell, who was going to pass the idea to the Tech. Later, the SA telephoned to inform me that GM advised to manually close the top and then perform the indexing. In his words, “re-initiate the convertible top learn procedure.” The SA did not have info about manually closing the top. All I can do until the next call is wait.
The ORM on/off shortcut in the SmartTop owner’s manual involves holding the armrest switch for an extended period of about 10 seconds.

Hopefully there is a way to override the electronics using an MDI tool and command it to close the top.
I would have removed the Smart Top before I took it to the dealership. GM doesn't have a good track record with honoring warranty work if you have aftermarket mods.
This is the best advice when bringing a car in for warranty work that has an aftermarket mod that may be causing an issue.

Didn’t know this, thanks. I always took the module out and programmed it through my computer.
Good news: The HTC and window are fixed, under warranty. The reasons for the failure are a mystery. The SA and SM each said “nobody knows” why the top was inoperable. The Tech manually closed the top and rear window, then indexed the side windows and then the rear window. Following that, all operations functioned properly. I did not have an opportunity to ask the Tech how to manually close the top (and neither the SA nor SM knew that procedure).
Again, thanks to all. Tomorrow morning, before the temperature climbs, I am going for a spirited top-down ride.

The armrest switch method of resetting the SmartTop to OEM values is much easier. And, my experience here demonstrates that it is effective. The switch method can also be used to restore your custom SmartTop settings after a dealer visit.
Your “thanks” makes me happy to have made a contribution to the CF.

Idk it doesn’t sound like a mystery, it sounds like the tech did the job with the roof down because it was easier for him and forgot about indexing the windows.

Glad you got it resolved. Hopefully whatever procedure the tech used was one he documented fully just in case your car or some other HTC has the problem again.
