backing into my garage yesterday, my top would not close. the back part was standing straight up verticle and would not open or close. It was an inch too high to back into the garage. my owners manuel was in the trunk and i could not open the trunk because the top was not secure. GM roadside assist was no help. all they could do was haul it to the closed dealership. all of this on a late saturday afternoon! so i did a search on this forum. took a bit of reading but i eventually got a hint. i had the oil change on Friday ($204). the mechanic did not close the rubber oil filler door properly. it was fully open and twisted up into and actuator or something. as soon as i cleared the cover, it beeped. then i started the car and it lowered.
Glad for your checking and knowing what to do. Since it's the weekend, may I suggest that come Mon.* or Tues., give a call to the Service Manager, and not rant on the person who "didn't" do the job correctly. Just ask that s/he add it to the list of things that needs to be checked "TWICE" before the car is ready for the owner.
I say this because I'd bet most of us have had something forgotten to be done such as fastening something down.
* Monday's usually the busiest day; might want to wait to another day when you can get the manager's attention.
So, it opened (you were able to put the top down) OK the next time you tried it, after you picked it up after the oil change?
That involves an open/close cycling of the tonneau cover to store the HTC above the engine bay.
Then when you got it home, you couldn't get the tonneau cover to cycle to allow the HTC to return the closed position (top up)?
The oil/dipstick access cover must have got caught up in the mechanism prior that point.
It was an odd problem waiting to happen. Luck of the draw?
Good you figured it out.
Alls well that ends well....
