I just purchased an ACDelco PF64 oil filter. I looked inside, as I always do, and noticed what I appeared to be a piece of debris. I took a photo and then pulled the debris out. It was firmly attached to the inside of the filter, but appears to be a section of the filter media where the seam is glued together. It might be just a one off, or it might be a bad run, but I wanted to give everyone a "heads up."
Looks like you got a bad one, defects of that type are rare. When I owned my auto parts stores we would encounter defects from time to time but were most always a dented can or damaged gasket. Good catch!
