You might be surprised to find a new car is not much, if any, more expensive than what owners are asking for theirs used. Plus a new one will have a full factory warranty.
Why fool around with a 2 or 3 year old C8 especially when you are worried about it ever being abused! Buy new like I just did from MacMulkin Chevrolet. Got $8000 off sticker and an additional $2500 Camaro Loyalty rebate. All their new cars are inside with with all shipping and protective wrapping. This dealer also has NO Dealer FEE! Highly recommend!!
Florida probably will not track don't plan to but maybe once to see the experience. this is my 1st vette and want to try one out before I shell out for new. But still want a quality one and that has good resale value. leaning towards the HTC red white or blue. want the GT2 seats two tone. 2LT or 3LT more options the better just for the benefit of checking it out and resale
If you're planning to buy a C8 with the hope of getting "good resale value," be realistic in your expectations since prices for both new and used have been "dropping." With that said, the CPO being sold by a Chevy dealer gets my vote (you spare yourself the big depreciation hit of buying new)
* ask/get a copy of the service history
* how much warranty is left on the CPO car? look at getting an extended warranty.
* the "CPO" (plus warranty) should hopefully give you some assurance that the car will be "healthy"
Best of luck. P.S. How much is the CPO listed for?
awesome idea just checked Ciocca after watching their youtube channel but didn't see this add They actually seemed higher than others
That was taken from their website! Just did again. Same! They own many distributorships in PA and NJ. ONLY the one in Atlantic City is the large Vette and ONLY Vette dealer. Have to click on new inventory.
Post the prices of the used cars you are looking at. It's impossible to advise you to buy a new one not even knowing what the dealer is asking for the used cars. It's easy to spend someone else's money and say buy new but even with discounts most are not including the inflation that is built into the MSRP of the new cars. The discounts just take them back to what the prices should be compared to what the used cars were new and in every case you have to option down the new car to make it look like a better deal. Meaning, if you want a Z51 2 or 3LT with options and compare it to the same exact car in used the price of the used will always be less but for a few on the forum it's just not low enough for them personally. Don't let that persuade you into buying one over the other.
Warranty is definitely a consideration with any C8 and I would not buy one either without already having the GMPP or with the ability to add it after you purchase it. I bought my used C7 from a private party and then purchased the GM extended from Macmulkin. At the prices you can get the extended coverage for it's a no brainer. I bought my 23' C8 new and will add the GM protection plan, again from Macmulkin again next fall before it is out of the 3/36. Post up some prices of the cars you are looking at and good luck with the hunt. The C8 is a fantastic car.
A used car is a used car regardless of how it may have been pampered. Huge discounts on new relative to what was the norm not so long ago make a new purchase almost a no brainer. So many private sellers currently have asking prices which are at or near the price of a brand new 2024 C8. I would not even consider used in this environment.
Used cars are cheaper than new for a medley of good reasons. When used asking prices are near new then forget about it. Used should be waaaaaay below new.
^^^ Yep sold my like new condition 2020 C8 Z51 w/MRC in ~November 2013 before there were C8's in stock at the big 3 dealers. Got close to what I paid because GM had raised prices significantly from the 2020 AND you had a 4+ month wait to get one from a dealer who had an allocation. Checking going prices I had an offer from Carvana as well as what Kelly Bluebook offers (they actually send your info to local dealers who send E-Mail offers.) Both have recently sent me quotes as never told them mine was sold. They are $11,000 + under what I was over end 2013! The C8 World has changed!
Yeah probably would do that if I really like the C8 This is my 1st and want to see how much I like before I would purchase a new dream car. Thanks
For what you are going to pay for a used C8 get a new one. If you are concerned if you are going to like it try to take a test drive at a dealer, if that is not an option go to a local Corvette Club meeting and see if a member could help you with a drive.
I'd only buy a used Corvette that came with a Certified GM Extended Warranty.
This right here. I have a 22 2LT that I will be paying for the extended warranty before the 3 years are up. Should give confidence to any future buyer if I ever decide to sell it. Also proof of services as required.
'22 C8 2LT convertible Z51 w/ mag front lift w/ mem red calip. certified with 9 mo remaining plus 1 year warranty Chevy dealer asking 75k 5k miles (GT1 seats)
few others very similar leaning more towards the convertible
'22 C8 3LT coupe loaded without mag ride 5k miles certified chevy dealer asking 75k really nice runs great
Just realized from photos the 1st one listed above does not have the (CORVETTE) letters on the back hatch wondering if there was body work Is there any reason or option that would take this out? Car looks mint. Salesman says never tracked etc. Carfax is very clean Looks like 1st owner flipped it Bought from Macmulkin and sold to Land rover in Sarasota Fl with 8 miles to owner 2
Timing is everything. I wanted a new c8 but the pricing was not where I needed to it be so I was fortunate to find a very low mileage 2023 2lt htc z51 loaded gm certified which is better than factory for roughly 20k less than msrp. Not sure how much more the c8s prices will fall so do your due diligence. Good luck!
@BarryVette1 You sound very paranoid and thinking of too many what ifs to buy a used car. Just go pay a couple extra thousand and just get a brand new car, that way you wont be conjuring up all these what ifs and driving yourself crazy.
