Default New vs Used?

So i have a bit of a dilemma, unfortunately my 2022 Mach 1 has to go back to Rod under the lemon law. Im looking at options one of which would be moving into a C8 Corvette, but im having trouble finding inventory of what i would want. The issue with ordering is, i would probably have to give up an option or 2 to afford it, and im not sure i can be sans vehicle for the 2-3 months it would take to build.

My priority when it comes to options are:
Convertible
Z51
Magna ride
Front End Lift
in rapid blue preferably.

Pricing one out through mac puts it around 85k after their 10% build discount, which is a bit too high for me due to current interest rates, however cargurus etc really don't give a great way to find a used vehicle with specific options, it doesn't even give a way to put any of the options in its filter system.

How do i go about making sure i can get a good extended warrenty? These cars like mustangs you never know what kind of Shananigans the previous owners may have gotten up to, and ive read quite extensively that a extended warranty is probably a must on the c8s. does anyone know of some secrets to narrow down choices when looking somewhere like cargurus?

I started shopping used and figured out very quickly it wasn't worth it! Even my wife who is terrified of sports cars came out and said I should just buy a new one!

For extended warranty, buy the Chevrolet Platinum Protection Plan. It is a named exclusion plan - everything is covered unless it is specifically excluded in the contract. You may not be able to purchase this if the original B2B warranty has expired (either due to miles or time). To buy the plan, contact the following (Todd typically has the lower price):

Todd Sutherland - MacMulkin
todds@thompsonauto.net
(603) 888-1121

Dennis Fichtner - Laurel

Be a little flexible and pick something new and in stock for a fair discount and as close to your price point and preferences as possible and move forward.

So how does a 22 Mach 1 qualify for the lemon law?
If you can’t afford a Vette with that alleged discount with what you want then a new Vette is too much car for you.

Right now I think dealers have too much invested in used C8s to give you a deal. I would price out a new one and order it as you want it. Dealers are giving great discounts now.

Not a bad idea if you can find something that would work for you. Otherwise, you may just have to look diligently until you find the used car that has just what you want.

VladDracule....
You have a big WANT. You need to calculate what you can realistically afford.
If possible, stretch for the C8.
Remember you HAVE a 2022 Mustang, you WANT a 2024/2025 Corvette, a convertible and other extra's.
For now, why don't you settle on a Corvette with what you need?
You don't need a HTC, Mag-Ride, or Z51.
You may need the front-lift for your driving area. Did your Mustang scrape?

My suggestion, calculate your absolute max affordability and get the C8 you can get.

Non-Z51 will save $6500 and you will get all-season tires for year-round driving. Car still handles like a go-cart.
Mag-Ride $2000

Recommend:
Performance Exhaust
2LT if possible
Many dealers discounting this fall.

( if all fails, get a good C7 Grand Sport )

Good luck with fulfilling your dream.

Warranty Contacts

C8's have 5 cameras, 28 modules, sensors, solonids snd the DCT.

The two go to people for warranties on the forum are Dennis Fichtner at Laurel Chevy and Todd Sutherland at MacMulkin Chevy. If you decide to get an extended warranty, send them your vin and ask for a quote; see what they can do and betting they will be at least half of a dealer quote.

I have the Platium Zero deductible 7 years 56,000 miles.

Warranties can be transferred if sold to a private party or a refund obtained on the unused portion if cancelled

I believe it must be purchased 30 days before your factory warranty expires (or before 35,000 miles) , I thinkwhichever comes first

Keep in mind there are price increases every year and the price goes up as the mileage increases. Also as the time goes on you maybe denied coverage because of mileage or repair history

Of the things you want on your list the only two I would absolutely not give up is HTC and color the rest are nice to haves although I use the lift on my car every time I drive it so that would be my third non-negotiable. The others are not critical even though there are those that will tell you they are. Eliminating some options could get a new ordered car into your price range and if not, also make it easier to find a good used example fit your budget as well.

If going used for me warranty and the ability to extend the warranty would be absolute requirements. That provides the peace of mind of wondering how the car was treated by the first owner - and preferably there are not multiple owner cars on that list of possibles. Either way, good luck with your search.

Used is a very viable option as a lot of these pre 24s have very low miles. Try to find one with a GM warranty for piece of mind. Easy to check if they have had the proper maintenance as well.

New is def the move, there is money beyond the listed discounts to be had at several dealerships.

If you can live without the nose lift maybe look at a 1LT with Z51/magride to save some $$. I don't miss many of the 2LT features and coming from a mustang you won't either.

I had a 2019 Bullitt and the Vette certainly drives different. The C8 does not howl nearly like the Coyote V8 but has its own flair. It will seem quite to you though.

I bought used and saved $ just before the prices dropped further - the C8 had only 2,200 miles on it and still has the factory warranty.

I got every option I wanted except front lift and red brake calipers (coupe, Z51, Magneride were must haves).

Front lift - don’t miss it at all; zero scrapes on anything so far (knock on wood) over potholes, speed bumps, and dips. Save your $, my C7 scraped it’s plastic underbody deflectors all the time - not the C8.

As for red calipers, I came out better than paying for them in Red as I saved the $ and used it to have my calipers painted Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat to match the car.

I was flexible on color and got one that I now love.

I'll get an extended factory warranty before this one expires.

Laws very from state to state

In my case the first reported issue was within 4 months of taking delivery. If the first reported issue takes place with 12 months, you have 24 months in the state i purchased it from to meet the lemon law

If you can wait a little longer….maybe first of the year both new and used will be cheaper. Inventory is pilling up and there are many new corvette owners who are selling and will need to wake up that the market is dropping.

19 z06 cars saw discounts in the high teens. Those days are coming.

I stopped looking for a used C8 this July after four and a half years. Try as good as I could I couldn’t find very many cars with 7500 miles or more that actually had the DCT filter changed per the manual. Add to that I wanted a red mist car with the Z51 option and mag ride. I finally pulled the trigger on a new car in stock at MM after a forum member convinced me that looking for a used car that had been taken care of just didn’t make sense.

85k after a 10% discount seems high. I know convertibles are more expensive. It’s one of the reasons I just picked up a coupe for $78500.00 out the door. I still had to shuck out an additional $2300.00 to have the car shipped to Mississippi using Intercity( They Are The Best) I love the car and now that I’m hearing some members are having trouble with the convertible tops I’m glad I made the decision I did.
