The recent article about a thief getting locked inside a C8, did not address how he got in there. Within several hours of reading this article, I went down to my vehicle and opened the trunk, the frunk and then the door. Got my seatbelt on and then attempted to start the car; it wouldn't start. Not before long I realized I didn't have my key on me. Found it on my desk in my office. My office overlooks the small parking lot where I park the car. The car is literally about 35-40 feet from the car. I had not touched my keys all day. I'm going to go thru the manual and make sure I haven't done something stupid but the car is just back from a dealer; it does appear the remote key lock has been disabled. Sent a note to my dealer who immediately got back to me with instructions on how to fix in the settings/vehicle menu. Passive lock and unlock come from factory not set. Bottom line, you need to set up immediately when you get the vehicle or just walking away may not lock your car. Don't assume your vette in your driveway is locked until you setup these settings.

There is a setting to set the car to auto-lock after 5 seconds. I still need to get around to doing it to mine. I think(but sketchy memory) you hold the lock button until it beeps or chimes and it is set to auto-lock. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I'd look but my manual is locked up in my shop with the car.

You go into the infotainment vehicle settings and set it to lock on exit. You can also set the horn to chirp to confirm it’s locked.
When you have the 5 second auto lock and want the car to remain open...open the door and hold the unlock button for 4 seconds...when you hear the beep it shuts off the autolock for that one time only.
