[b]I'm baaack....Long story but I was an active here from about 2001 to about 2021. Have had a history of Vettes from a C2 vert 427/425 unit. Was only3 years out of college with a job I liked, married with one child living in an apartment with a 19" B&W TV.
Somehow my wife became PG so it was obviously the sled had to go.
Then it was raising a family, paying for college and once that was done, it was time for a fun car. Had 3 Toyota Supra twin turbos....great cars BUT then the Z06 in '21 so that was next one, followed by a '23 Z06, then a was a C6 coupe and s C7 coupe.
I drooled over the C8 in 2020 but my left knee was getting super bad and I had great difficulty in exiting...no muscle strength in left knee. I virtually had to "fall out" of it so had to sell the C7.
I was then on a mission for a C8. Got a knee replaced and worked like crazy to build up the quads. Knee felt great so my mission was to see a C8 and do my best in exiting same. Found a dealer nearby who had one in stock. Went to see it and salesman asked if I wanted to take it for a ride. Told him "no, all I want to see is if I can exit it".
I did it....not too gracefully but I did it so the hunt began. Wanted a Red Mist/Kalahri HTC and options were all OK. Hunted like crazy all over the mid west and found a number of them but calls to them resulted in, "sorry, it's been sold."
FINALLY saw a dealer 50 miles away who had such a unit. Quick trip there and I was smitten. They offered 3k off, offered 10k off and we settled at 7.5%. AWESOME dealer out of small town WI, population 5,000 and they were were super to deal with.
Am one month into it and I am super pleased...what a car.
Last thing, I'm 83.4 years old and just wondering if there are any other old farts who picked up a C8
It's good to be back as this forum has been most successful in answering any questions I had with my previous one.

I'm going to be 77 this week. Broke my knee in a fall about two weeks before I took delivery of my SR. So I guess I qualify in the Old FArt department.

The Vette (just like a younger female) will make you feel young again.

I’m 79 with bad knees. I use the technique of turning around and sitting down in seat and then swinging legs in. Works great. There is a video somewhere on net of a guy doing it. 🤗

82 and still into Vettes. I've had a c-3, c-5, c-6, c-7 and just this summer bought a c-8 and love it. Tuff to get out of but I can live with it. Enjoy your new ride...

I’m 65 and had my left knee replaced two years ago and my second back fusion last year. I tell people who ask how hard it is to get in and out of my C8 that it’s an art.

I stand and put one foot in the car, then pivot left on the foot that is on the ground, then sit in the seat, mostly avoiding sliding across the bolsters. Once seated I pull my left leg in. I keep a microfiber cloth and small spray bottle of interior detailer to wipe the door panel if I or my passenger brush when getting in (which does happen). I have the sky cool gray interior, but the part that might get brushed is the black (actually it real dark gray) part.

Dave--
Understand the entry/exit bit. Am getting much better on the exit bit. Steering wheel all the way in and up. Still have not set the memory bit for this.
A lot to learn on the how to bit for all the settings.
Cheers
Gary

74 and loving my C8. Had a knee replacement 6 years ago. No problem with that.
6'-2" The only problem I have getting out is with the seat all the way back, it is still a tight squeeze to get my left foot out without kicking the door panel.

74 here, and loving the C8. I have a bad back but the HTC lets me lower the top before getting in, so it's an easy step in and lowering myself down onto the seat. Getting out, I programmed that exit button to raise the steering wheel and move the seat back. I'm 6"1, so pivoting my legs out of the car isn't too bad. I can avoid scraping the door panel with my shoes, but the door has to be all the way open for me to do that. It took me awhile to figure out the best way to ingress/egress, but once you get that covered, it's all good! I never gave a thought to climbing in and out of my C2 when I was in my 20s

Default Thanks

Enjoyed all responses....am getting better on the exit bit. It's an art for sure.
Good to see other old farts enjoying their ride. Funny thing, my grandson was in Bowling Green plant, took a bunch of pics but the one that stands out is one of 5 guys standing outside the plant. He took a pic of them....all were grey hairs and sent it to me with the comment, "see pops, you would fit right in."
Gotta love it.
Now just have to figure our how to get a pic of the C8 in place of my C7 on this forum. Am not a techy at all but will work on it.
Cheers all..

Fall in / crawl out. Back & knees are shot.

Should've went out for the Golf Team instead of the Football Team back in the day.
