Default Another DCT question

I used my free DCT filter change early and wanted to know what the time limit, if any, is or is it based on miles only for the required 7-8,000 mile change. I'm coming up on 2 years ownership and have less than 6,000 miles currently. My car is a 2023. I will surely be between 7-8,000 miles prior to 3rd year of ownership. I can't seem to find this info so thought this would be the best place to ask. Thanks in advance for any info.

This is pretty easy these days of AI in Goggle

>>>>> https://www.google.com/search?q=c8+t...hrome&ie=UTF-8 <<<<<

Just type in what info you seek that should be in the service manual and owners manual. These are scanned by AI these days and if you hit the term well enough, you get a nice answer.

The transmission filter in a C8 Corvette should be replaced at 7,500 miles, and then every 22,500 miles and 45,000 miles after that. This is critical for the life of the transmission.

So, then Justin ( horsepower ???? ) on YouTube went in and did his service at 7500 there about. He asked what is the lead way on plus or minus of the mileage... That is a good question, however it is subjective to the dealer.. and then worse,.. did you have a transmission failure at 7800 miles and you DID NOT get the service done at 7500 miles. GM can just as easy say you did not read your owners manual and get your transmission serviced at exactly 7500 miles as outlined, void your claim of repair, and charge you for a nice new transmission.

So Justin indicated there is more one direction than the other.. well, easy enough to guess that it is get it done before 7500 at like 6800.. but do not get it done at 8100 as they can say 'sorry you missed it'' you failed to get this done and now we void your transmission warranty.

There is no time interval on the DCT canister filter change, strictly mileage. You will be due for DCT fluid replacement at the 3-year mark though. Based on what you've said, I'd just target the 8k mile or 3-year mark, whichever comes first, to have the filter + fluid changed out at the same time.

Yep, exactly what I did. Took advantage of the free engine oil/filter DCT filter (with Flush) end year one with ~3000 Miles on my 2020 C8. Thought year 3 will have ~8000 miles and did. Since minimum every 3 years MUST also change all DCT Fluid (some additives are time not miles dependent) as defined on all year Owner's Manuals, good time to change the DCT filter again. Also thought have to replace the DCT filter again AS IT IS REQUIRED TO KEEP WARRANTY between 7000 and 8000 miles. Has been clear for 4 years, change early your choice BUT you MUST change between 7000 to 8000 miles!

The Owner's Manual is clear, some folks just don't want to accept. BUT change at say 6000 miles still need to do again BEFORE 8000! That narrow window and no mileage benefit from early change has been asked to GM Exec's who just repeat only +/- 500 miles narrow range allowed! May not seem logical BUT GM's Warranty- GM's logic (and my guess driven by Tremec who probably pays all DCT replacement costs during warranty, including dealer's cost to install new one!!)

If folks need reinforcement read this Doc.

Having my free service with DCT filter done this week. Car is 2 years old. I will not have 7000 miles on the car next year but will still have to replace the fluid and filter on my dime. I will also end up changing the filter again in year 4 when I likely hit the 7K mile mark so my car will be getting a new DCT filter for 3 annual services in a row.

And there's the problem with AI. It only knows it found something, not whether what it found is correct or not. Per Tadge, Josh and Harlan, the 2nd change should be AT 22,500 miles, not 22,500 miles after the first one.

You don't need to change the filter again at 3 years. The OM clearly states to change the filter at the same time as the fluid change only if it's close to the mileage requirement. The filter retains about 6 oz of fluid. Compared to the approx. 2 liters left in the transmission when the fluid is changed, that nothing.

Mine timed out on the engine oil at 1yr and 4200mi. The dealer did the free DCT filter with the engine oil service. A year later, which was last week I had the dealer do the DCT filter for the 7500mi requirement. It cost $750 with my discount of $150. My reservation is that I should have paid for the first oil change, did an early DCT filter myself and saved the free services for the 7500mi milestone. I was not aware that we could do the DCT 7500mi service ourselves.

The reason you cannot find a "time limit" for the DCT filter change is because there isn't one (well, except for every 24 hours of track use).

Change the DCT filter between 7000-8000 miles even if done earlier (regardless of who pays), then at 22,500 miles, then every 22,500 miles after, or when your transmission filter life monitor says so (your 2023 model has one) or every 24 hours of track use whichever comes first.

Change the DCT flud when the transmission fluid life monitor says so, or 45, 000 miles, or at least every three years (the fluid life monitor does not track the three years so you must observe that yourself), or every 24 hours of track use, whichever is first. There is no requirement to change the DCT filter and fluid at the same time unless the triggers for those service events are coincident.
