My comment is not only about this forum but many others.
It seems people post asking questions and wanting definitive answers about warranties and technical concerns when they should ask the proper source. Not the internet.
Will my Chevy dealer install something for free that should be there on my USED C8?
Will GM warranty be good if I buy a flooded C8?
People think first.

A great way to gain knowledge is by learning from other's mistakes. I have worked for dealerships for over a decade, they are not a proper source either. Whether it's options, accessories, maintance, or warranty work most dealerships know basically nothing. Service writers are a revolving door and you will be lucky if your Chevy dealer has a dedicated tech.
Some people also just want validation when they know they are in the wrong and come to the forum to find someone to agree with them.
Because sometimes you want to hear from others...their experience and input to kick an idea around or simply to nail down a solid question. We've also noted conflicting info from many 'sources' especially dealerships. Some of the GM material is also confusing and a bit abstract.

I get the OP's frustration at some of the questions/comments, but I think the two strongest points have already been made here. Dealers are not all operating on the same playbook, we all know and experience that, and secondly, I for one love to learn from other's experience, whether good or bad.

I wonder all the time. There are millions of posts about general automotive maintenance but none of the people responding have designed the combustion engine and fully understand it.
And for animals it seems just one opinion is held greatly when it is the first one and difficult to change.
I think people just assume the posts are peer reviewed by enough individuals that somebody would catch any errors
However this is rarely the case and most of the information especially about performance and maintenance is spotty at best, even from companies selling their own products.
Because of the disconnect between product engineers and the people selling it, and the engine's engineers which may have something to say about the product which is not always good but we rarely hear about that either.
And sometimes you do get somebody that has a doctorate in engineering field and has the decades of combustion engine experience to go with the education and perspective from building and tuning myriad variations in vehicles from many different countries...

Many times dealers are the worst source of information. They have many models to sell and repair and Corvettes rate no special attention. I'm sure many have found that salesmen are generally not a good source for Corvette questions etc. This forum is far better IMO.
The sad truth is that people here are frequently better informed than dealers. Read the forums for a while and you'll be astounded at the number of people who have gotten seriously wrong answers from dealers. Even after providing GM documents that prove the dealer is wrong, many dealers refuse to acknowledge it.
