I was screwing around with my C8 (2024) AA configuration for Google Maps.
In the past the map filled the whole screen.
Now I get a smaller map with options I don't need.

How do I get rid of that bottom set of icons?
Hi John! You appear to be running Google maps there from your phone and projecting your phone screen to the C8 display! Looks like you have Android Auto working! This row of icons you've circled is part of the UI your phone is broadcasting to the car. Your car's Android Automotive UI is the vertical row of icons on the left. On the car display, somewhere in the UI for Android Auto (don't use the icons on the left) you should be able to find Android Auto settings. According to Reddit, you can disable or move those icons by disabling taskbar widgets in settings, but it only seems to work for some cars and I don't have first hand experience with Android Auto.
Good Luck!
On your phone, go to the settings for Android Auto (On a Samsung it's under Connected Devices, not sure about other brands) and turn OFF the setting for Taskbar widgets. That should get rid of the ones on the bottom.
Nothing you can do about the ones on the left. That's Android Automotive (different from Android Auto) and I'm not aware of any option to get rid of them
I'm away from the car until next week, but on my Samsung phone under Android Auto->Taskbar widgets I have unselected "Show quick controls apps"
Hopefully that will take care of it. Will report back next week.
On the 2024 you can run Google Maps natively (no need for AA or CarPlay). You can also run Waze natively. When running natively, they take the full screen,
Stupid question Zymurgy, but what do you mean by run natively
in this context, he means the application runs on the c8’s processors, not your phone. It runs on android automotive, the c8’s infotainment operating system.
