Guys who do you think pays for the hundreds of Insurance commercials (that cost billions) every 5 minutes? Dont forget you're also paying for Mahomes and his team mates. No regulation, the politicians are paid..... these are your criminals.
Their stupid and annoying commercials alone is enough to keep me from insuring with them.
Don't be too proud of this technological cost savings you've constructed. The ability to lure you in with an initial first year discount is insignificant when factoring in the rate increase the following year.
Progressive did this with my truck when I purchased it. I was with USAA, traded in my car for a truck and USAA wanted $700 for 6 months. Calling progressive, they wanted $305 for 6 months for the same coverage and slightly lower deductible. The next year they had jacked my rate up to $700 and that's with a perfect driving record and no claims.
Florida rates have gone through the roof due to increase of uninsured motorist claims from all the illegal drivers flooding into the state.
Rates in the Carolinas have gone up because most of the Northerners who moved to FL can no longer afford the situation they created with their mass migration and are now moving into the Carolinas. Going into Myrtle Beach, you'd think you were in NJ or Brooklyn based on the accents. Many of the insurance companies are pulling out and I had a hard time finding HOI. When I asked my broker why the rates had doubled in just a years time and so few insurance options "Because there's been such an influx of people that some companies are pulling out due to the higher risk rate."
Never seen so many darn FL tags in my entire life.
Not my experience here in NC. As I said years ago GIECO wanted to double my rates on 6 vehicles over a single speeding ticket so I went to Flo, who was cheaper than GIECO was before the ticket. Prices have remained stable and on our three cars this year did go up $30 but we replaced my wifes 2006 CRV with a 2025 so that's to be expected. Insurance on my two motorcycles went down this year.
Home owners is through Travelers and has remained constant too.
We switched to USAA a couple of years ago. To be honest I know we switched to save money but I never checked how much were saving, my in-house account said we are saving. My youngest son is a plaintiff attorney and said USAA is the easiest to deal with on claims.
My neighbor is an adjuster and estimator for Progressive and he always tries to be fair, he is also a car guy.
USAA claims process is top notch. I pay $800 per year for my Corvette. Hagerty was same, but they use agreed value for a complete loss. My RC F is $1200 from USAA and Hagerty. USAA gives significant discounts if you bundle multiple vehicles (I have 4) and home owners policies.

Same here in NC. Many speak a different dialect that is hard to understand. Some have the nerve to tell us Carolina boys that we speak differently.

All insurance has gone up a lot the past 2 years, the secret is to switch every couple of years because even with no claims or tickets somehow the rates go up dramatically every 2 years or so.
I had progressive for 6 months on autos the next renewal they jacked the rates up really high I dropped them that day. Its a trend now for them to get you in low then jack up the rates at first renewal. I had state farm for many many years and they got way out of control on rates they were replaced by progressive. I have Travelers now and after the fist 6 months my over all rate on my 4 vehicles only went up $24 dollars for 6 months. I can live wit that for now. No claims with them or progressive or state farm. I do still have progressive on my home and 6 motorcycles and they did raise my home rate last year. They do that again in April on renewal and they will be off the home list. The motorcycles have stayed the same for 3 years now but I look for them to come up with some stupid increase for no reason other than they can come march on renewal.
Insurance is a scam! they make their own rules because they can. Me living in MS does not help this state is dead last on the amount of insured drivers so the insurance companies pass their losses on the ones who have insurance here.
My 2023 GMC AT4X Sierra 1500 truck is $400 a year more than my 2024 3LT corvette, how is that even possible? In fact my truck is the top insurance hog out of the 4 vehicles I own. No claims, great driving record and super duper 800+ credit score it makes no sense.
I feel the urge to share my terrible experience with State Farm and hope you won't fall victim like me.
My car suffered a hit & run at the parking lot. A witness got the other driver's license plate. The police called that driver and obtained the insurance info (State Farm)
I called State Farm and they straight up denied having any coverage for that driver. BIG RED FLAG #1
I then repaired the car through my own insurance and they got the money back from State Farm.
Now, I am dealing with State Farm for diminished value, which is allowed in WA state. State Farm denied my attempt a few times by saying "The repair meets the standard and did not lose any market value". Are you serious? BIG RED FLAG #2
I personally would run away (not walk) from State Farm as their practice is unethical in my view.
I'm a little surprised at the negative experiences stated here with Progressive - only because my one and only claims experience in 50+ years of driving was last year and we had a very good claims experience with Progressive. We were 4th in a line of 7 cars in a pile-up on a very crowded interstate with jersey barriers on either side (no where to bail out). They totaled our 2 year old Ford Edge within 5 days and had a $34K+ check in our hands 2 weeks later. The amount was $3K more than private sale value online. We kept our 30 day rental the full term to allow us to shop and get a new car. No issues and well informed during the process. We pay our premium with one annual payment and it only went up a couple of hundred at the last renewal after the accident. Maybe a one-off with them considering others experiences ...
Grundy only raised my premium for year #2 with them $7. Last year before I went with Grundy (Philadelphia), I was with NCM (Modern) and they wanted $1K more than I’m paying next year.
I've had State Farm all my life in MN and ND. I shop insurance every couple of years and have never found anyone that can beat them when you combine my home, auto, liability umbrella, etc. If I break it apart and go with auto with one company, home with another, etc. I can save a few dollars, but its not enough to then have to deal with several different companies. Also, my agent is less than 5 minutes away so if I have issues I can go to him, can't do that with progressive.
I will say before we moved back to ND this year, in May state farm raised our home owners insurance rates by $45/month because MN was 3rd highest in hail claims. Now that we are in ND, we save $145/month on insurance from MN. My C8 is $63/month, full coverage, 100/500 with a $1k deductible. I do not use the drive safe and save on it because, well, its a corvette. We have the C8, we have a Silverado, Equinox, motorcycle trailer, umbrella, personal articles and the house (brand new construction), and pay $291 per month. Living in ND has its advantages.
I've been with Progressive since 2005. Over the last (almost) 20 years, I've had probably 4-5 claims in total, and they have all been handled very quickly and without issue. In our most recent claim, I had to bring the car back twice cause they used off-brand parts, and things didn't line up well. I demanded OEM parts, and they approved and I got everything fixed. Beyond the fact that my rates doubled since having a new 17-year-old driver on my policy, they've been really good to me overall.
That said, I have three vehicles on my policy (Telsa Plaid, 2025 Highlander, and my son's new Civic) with them, but I put my C8 on NCM insurance only because I figured it would be way higher with a younger driver in the house.
I’ve had Progressive for my cars since 2010 and motorcycles since 2000. Rates have remained competitive consistently.
I have had two claims. A 2012 Corvette that was badly damaged in a parking lot hit and run drivers door, quarter torn almost off and the left rocker was crushed. Left rear wheel and tire damaged and left rear axle damaged. Repairs were done quickly using OEM parts with zero issues.
The next was a 2020 Miata that hit road debris. Front bumper panel, grille, condenser and radiator. Again repaired quickly with zero issues.
Neither claim caused an increase in rates. So I’m satisfied with them.
