Default Oil, DCT, plug sizes

Yes I have searched the forum but when you note DCT a whole lot of posts pop up and reading is a bit tedious. So.....

What are the sizes for the following

DCT fill plug = 20mm x 1.5mm correct?
DCT drain plug =

Thank you

DCT fill plug: M20-1.5 GM PN: 24299296

I bought a plastic nipple from Temu that I hope will screw in to the fill-plug-hole. $2.55
I want to attach a hose to fill from the outside of rear wheel-well.
If someone has a better nipple, please list it!

Assume you're talking about the DCT fill using that plug, easy to do as my C8 Trained Tech did. Took 5 minutes. If trying to add the 2 quart 'Overfill' on prior 2024, 2025 cases, Harlan Charles said most folks Tracking really didn't need it. Guess if you are going to Track or Race at Laguna Seca using slicks and have the skill to go down the Corkscrew turn well past 1 "g" might be needed!

I've continued to search and I can't seem to find the drain plug size. How after all of these years do we not have this information readily at hand? Ha..ha.

I can find the part number for the DCT drain plug 24299298, but even gm doesn't list its specifications.

I'd check it for you, but, well....... you know.....

Don't need to change my fluid for another 2 years.........

WHY do you need to know what the thread size is on the DRAIN bolt anyways??

I used the brass fitting that V showed above for the FILL plug fitting.

I want to swap out the DRAIN plug (sorry for the caps, but just trying to make sure no confusion) for a quick drain type setup (Fumutomo / Votex). I'm already changing out the top brass fill plug (the one under the air box) to a remote fill so I don't ever have to pull the air box out again. I've just received the Tanks access panel, so I'm going to make the cut for the "trap door" underneath. With the DRAIN plug on the bottom pan replaced to a quick connect setup things will remain clean and easy IMO.

Just like you I don't want to have to order anything until I know what it is I need But if I have to pull the DRAIN plug on the bottom and measure it, then order... I can do that.

^^^^ makes sense !!! I too considered the Fumoto quick drain/ fill plug for the fill plug. As I have an Eventuri carbon fiber intake, I have room to access the top of DCT fill plug if I choose to use that one without removing the air box as I don't have that anymore and there is plenty of room to get to the brass plug on top without any fuss. I think next time I go to do a DCT fluid change, I will use my access hatch on the bottom, drain the fluid, and then re fill from the very top fill plug since it's so easy for me to get to now. I wouldn't have to do it from underneath...... YEA..... And, rather than having to fill until it just starts to seep out of the fill plug on the side of the DCT, I could just choose to put in 10 liters and know that I'm good to go. When I did it from the side of the DCT at the fill plug, and filled, then lowered the car and ran it through the gears, etc and raised it back up to top it up again, it took a grand total of 9.5 liters.

That's what I WAS considering. A quick drain plug.

BUT now I thought better of it since really you will be changing it each 22,500 miles. Does it really need a quick drain? will you really be changing it that often?

Well, when you run the car on the track as much as I have already I'm going to be changing it every off season (winter - um, now). For me it's well worth it, I'm making the entire process as easy as possible to access the filter, drain without a mess, and fill with ease.

rlhammon....Have you installed a quick drain? Which one? Thread size?
Heck if it works why not install one while I'm there.

The purpose of my question today was to find out what size the plug is so I can do this... nobody has chimed in with that knowledge. I'm going to just proceed with draining the fluid and measuring the plug once it's out.

Let us know. Unfortunately you plan would mean not installing a QD until the next go around. Oh well.

That's not my plan at all.

I will drain the system, put the stock drain plug back in after I check it on my thread gauge, and then order something. I won't fill until the new quick drain plug arrives, so it will be done soon.

Change what every 22,500 miles? If this thread is about the drain and fill plugs for transmission fluid....that is changed when change transmission fluid message appears on the DIC, or 45000 miles or at least every three years or every 24 hours of track use whichever is first. There is no requirement to change fluid at 22,500 or every 22,5000 miles. The filter is changed between 7000-8000 miles, at 22,500 miles, then every 22,500 miles or every 24 hours of track use, whichever is first. And it does in involve removing fill plug to top off the fluid lost when the filter was changed - about 6 oz some report. The filter change does not involve the drain plug.

Perhaps you could see if your local Chevy dealer has a new drain plug in stock and go measure it with your gauge. Or maybe someone on the forum will be swapping out their DCT fluid in the next few days and can properly measure it with a gauge tool and report back here ???

If not, would YOU be kind enough to fill the rest of us in?

thanks,
Richard
