When I attempt to pull up the map on my screen, I get the notification "no SD card inserted". I do have an SD card with lots of space inserted. What now?

You need a navigation SD card with navigation data on it. If your car supports navigation (2LT/3LT or a 1LT purchased with PDR/Nav) it should already have the nav SD card inserted. This applies to 2023 or earlier cars. 2024 and later don't use an SD card for navigation. The nav SD card goes in the slot in the center console, not the one in the glove box.

Why would the maps be working up until recently? The car was two years old last month. Do I need to get an updated card from GM?

No. The original SD card should work just fine. Try pulling the card out and then reinstalling it. If it still doesn't work, you probably have either a bad socket or the card has died. Take it to a dealer to get it fixed.

Have you removed the Nav card in the center console and reinserted it?

Hopefully just a removal/reinsert will get the maps working again.

You didn't state it was previously working. You just said that you inserted an SD card that had plenty of room on it which implied that it wasn't the nav SD card.
Your original nav SD card should still work. As mentioned, try removing and reinserting it. Otherwise you probably need a trip to the dealer. If your car is less than 3 years old and has less than 60K miles on it then it should be covered under warranty.

Had the same message pop up on my '21, at about 18 months of ownership. Took to dealer, they did all kinds of troubleshooting and wanted to replace the harness that went from the SD card reader to the main harness. That would have meant taking the entire dash out.
I opted to take the car home and ponder the situation.
Took the NAV SD card out and popped in my laptop. It was not recognized. Two neighbors had C8s, so tried there NAV SD cards and both were recognized. Spoke to the corvette service tech, they ordered a new NAV SD card and fixed the issue. Took just a few minutes vs several days and it was covered by warranty.
My theory - it was in for service the week before the issue. Since the whole car is a computer, I think the tech popped out the card while the car was powered up, don't know why, and it killed the card.
Hope yours is an easy fix.

I had that problem on my 2012 Acadia. Dis everything, finally went to GMC dealer and they have a requirement to do testing because they are not allowed to return tge Map SD card. I'd it is not the card, they bought it!

in my case, the actual reader needed to be replaced. They did, reused existing map SD card and it has been ok ever since - with outdated map SD- lol. I use Waze and Google maps on my cell.

I only discovered the problem when I left my phone home once.

Removing and reinserting SD can sometimes cause the error I described.

Do I remember sometime back that people were having trouble with NAV after using too large a chip for music? or the way the music was formatted caused issues with nav? Or is that a faulty memory on my part? .

Did OP use a mem stick or SD card for music near where the nav card resides in the center console?
