For those who question GM's commitment to EVs with:
In 2020 moving the Chief Engineer Ed Piatek and 1/2 the Corvette engineers to work on EVs (of all types not just Corvettes)
Having spent >10 billion in the past 5 years on battery production and assembly plants that currently make their biggest seller at ~750,000/year Silverado/ Sierra
Mary Barra recently saying their all EV plan has not changed
That's to bad for GM. Nothing wrong with EVs if you want them and nothing wrong with Hybrids. People want choice. Thank goodness for Ford.and Toyota.
We'll see in 10 years who will be selling what! Perhaps it will take a few years longer and GM will sell some ICE's BUT my guess all will be selling will be with much smaller engines. The ICE is very inefficient. Only about 20 of the gasoline energy used gets to move the car forward. AND ~1/5 of that goes to heat when braking.
I'm all for folks having a choice, small government etc. BUT suspect some would be happy NOT to have used the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) given a choice. They would have opted just as I had in my flathead Ford up thru my '56 Chevy small block and dumped engine blowby on the ground. Who needs CATs etc
I'm old so no big deal for me BUT I have two Great Granson's I try to keep interested in cars and when they are my age want the best for them!
Yep I'm all for choice but some would not have wanted the PCV system and just keep dumping engine blowby on the ground! That was the case until ~1960. When I tried to buy my 1st Vette in 1974 the EPA new rules had the 350 cid small block down to ~200 hp. To get max 270 hp had to order the 454 cid. Engineers learned to do better and still keep low population. We'll see who has what available in 2035!
I'm seeing the same thing here in Chicago. My dealer had been sitting on a 2024 ERay and Z06 for a long time. I had my eye on the ERay as the price was dropping like crazy and I kept stopping in to look at it. Car had every option I wanted and nothing I didn't.
Had a couple of conversations with the sales manager and asked him to call me if they got to $100K. I stopped by on Saturday and it was gone. Car was a Red Mist 2LT with some options. Sticker was $119K and he said they sold it for $99K.
Sales manager said they had it for 76 days and sold it to a Stingray owner that traded in his 2023. The Z06 also sold the same week but I didn't ask what they got for it. He did mention that GM needs to slow production as the market in this area is flooded with cars and $10K off on Stingray and $20K off on ERay and Z06's is becoming more common.
what dealer in shitcago sold that E-Ray for >15% off MSRP??
Even the Big 6 are NOT >10% off E-Ray as Employee/Family pricing is roughly 11%.
and why don’t he calll YOU if you offered 100k and he supposedly sold for another $1l less?!?
I was able to pick up a brand new 2024 3LT Coupe for 20% off sticker yesterday here in Michigan. No employee discount. No GMS. No Camaro rebate. No military. The prices are pretty good right now if you can have a little latitude with color/options, especially if you can try to snag one today, the last day of the month.

The continuation of this strategy will absolutely kill GM profits moving forward and likely Barras career as well. The EV mandates are gone for those that missed it and without taxpayer subsidies things will be much tougher for EVs moving forward until battery technology gets better.
We just replaced our 5 year old SUV with a 6 cylinder turbo gas burner combined with a mild hybrid drivetrain which I wish the vehicle did not have. Why? Because the biggest issues with the vehicle is the mild hybrid drivetrain and required battery. It adds a ridiculous amount of complexity to try to achieve an increase of 2 or 3 MPGs of fuel economy. Would happily just buy a couple extra gallons of gas each month for a simpler and overall far more reliable vehicle over the long run. We will absolutely not own this thing out of warranty. We also had the option to buy the plug-in hybrid version of the same SUV. Nothing but problems for owners that have them and in our climate the stated range of 25-30 miles of all electric quickly becomes 8 - 12 miles of range in cold weather. Lets see, I can pay more for the same vehicle with less horsepower and even worse reliability and complexity? They need a lot of simpletons to sign on for these things.
An EV just does not work for our driving needs. Someone in a warm climate driving short distances? Perfect place for an EV. We have a neighbor with two EVs. They spend more time charging their vehicles than driving them. No thanks for now but when I can get 400 plus miles of range in -20F weather while recharging it in 10 minutes for the exact same price as the gas burner? Ok, sign me up - maybe.
I think C8 prices are going to really tank hard late in the summer. There are just too many sitting on lots and in the used markets.
You must have missed all of the youtuber's videos regarding tanking prices for the last many months now. Pretty sure those started a year ago. Should be able to get a new C8 for $25K by fall. Oh, wait forgot about the tariffs. Make that $25K plus another $50k for the tariffs.

According to Rick Conti, the 2025 model year production ends in a few months, and 2026 MY production starts in June. There is only 2 months left to order a 2025.
Just pulled up C8s on AutoTrader and was astonished to see the sheer number of C8s for sale.
7,569 in the US total.
2,995 used.
That's a lot of supply.
And was surprised to see how many HTCs in 2LT can be had for mid $60Ks.
Looking at Ford Mustangs from 2020 there are 14k for sale, 4500 of which are used. Pricing in the C8s like every other car will level out. Plus spring will be here and sales will increase Iike it does every year.
