Ok, some are going to laugh but I'll ask anyway. I have a base C8 Stingray. Lotts of talk about NPP and AFM valves. I believe the AFM (active fuel management) are on the base corvette. Does the base corvette come with NPP valves also or are they an option on the higher end vettes?
I am asking because I'm looking at aftermarket Exhaust options and ALL ask about needing the AFM and NPP valve simulators. Just not sure if I'll need 2 sets or just one...... Thanks in advance for helping me.
The NPP valves come with the Performance Exhaust Option. That option can be added to the Stingray at extra cost, and it is also included with the Z51 Performance Package.
The rated horsepower is 5 higher with the Performance Exhaust.
All of them come with the AFM or Cylinder Deactivation Exhaust Flow Control Valves. The Performance Exhaust is plumbed slightly differently inside, and it adds the Tailpipe Exhaust Flow Control Valves. With the option, the engine sound setting can be used to modify the conditions when the Tailpipe Flow Control Valves will open or close.
When AFM is active, all the valves close according to the Service Manual.
To find out if you have the option enter your vin at https://www.c8tracker.com to get a copy of the window sticker. There are other ways of doing this but this is the simplest to explain.
