Default Seat concerns

I am not debating which seat to get, but wondering if I will be comfortable in any of them at the track or for long trips.

After reading a few of the seat threads on here, I went to the nearest Chevy dealer to try out the competition vs the GT2 last weekend, since I am only considering the 3LZ trim. And I felt fine in either of them, not my favorite seats of all time, but wasn't uncomfortable. I even played around with the bolster adjustment, but the bladders seemed to just push me out of the seat, not make me feel more secure. They felt best fully deflated.

I am 5' 8", 175, 33" waist. I still have some muscle mass left but not a body builder by any stretch. I should fit perfectly in any car. And I have driven many aggressive sports cars at length. Exige S240, Evora GT, Gallardo, Huracan, Ariel Atom 4S, and a Porsche Spyder, and I've never had a complaint about any seat before. The C6 seats had horrendous support but they were at least comfortable for long trips.

Yesterday, I drove my friend's new Z51 1LT down my local windy road and I couldn't really get comfortable in the seat. I felt on the seat, not in the seat. The side bolsters poked into my lats and after 20-25 minutes of driving, I wasn't in pain, but I was definitely ready to to get out. I then hopped into another friend's Civic Type R (which I drove 3 hours from the dealer in Houston last month) and it was night and day, both infinitely more comfortable and way more supportive.

I chalked the discomfort up to being the 1LT GT1 seats, but it was nagging me that they were that bad and those seats by all accounts are the least aggressive option. So I stopped by a GMC dealer today that had a used 3LZ, and I had the same issue. The bolsters poke me in the lats, preventing me from sitting all the way against the back of the seat comfortably.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am thinking the side bolsters are meant to fit under your lats and I am just not tall enough to clear them, but I am sure there are shorter guys and certainly shorter women driving C8s out there. Is there an adjustment I am missing?

I'm considerably taller and have to adjust the lumbar in order to get the bolsters to fit comfortably. I have done 12hr+ drives with no issues.

I'm 5'8" and 200 pounds. I have the GT2 seats and I find them very comfortable. Eat a few donuts, gain some weight, and just fill the seats out.

I loved the C6 (2009) sport seats. I felt uncomfortable in my C8 GT2 seats for a while, took a lot of fiddling with the position, mostly tilt to get it to where I am comfortable.

I guess there is no 1 size fits all when it comes to seats. My GT2 seats are probably the most comfortable, I'm a part of my car seats I have ever owned.

The side bolsters are adjustable, try that.

I got the GT1 seats because my wife who has a back problem said they were the most comfortable for her, but I was most comfortable in the GT2 seats.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I'm betting I'll figure out a position that works for me. Perhaps sitting more upright would help or adjusting the lumbar. Or maybe I'll just get used to it. The engine will likely make me forget about the seats entirely.

Owning 2 different C8s, one with GT1 seats and the new one with GT2. The GT1s were good for long trips - never any back issues, but the bolsters were always a bit of squeeze on my 5'10 185lb frame. The newer one has the GT2s and gotta say more comfy. Just picked it up a week ago and drove home on a 750 mile trip....zero issues with back and the bolsters were great.

I'm 5'8" 185ish and I have the GT2 seats. Out of all of the Vettes I've owned ('12 GS / '14 Z51 / '20 Z51) they are by far my favorite seats. They keep me planted when doing more spirited driving and have caused me no discomfort on long road trips. I will say that it did take some serious seat time, about a month, to find that perfect adjustment though.

i have a wonky lower back and it's always been difficult for me to find the right seating position. With my GT2 seats, it took awhile and many trips but I finally found a couple positions that work. I'm 6'1" 220 pounds with a 32" inseam and a long torso, so my head isn't too far from touching the roof my '24 HTC. The exit button makes it easy for me to get out and into the car (easier than my C7). If you don't have a back issue, you should be okay. These are pretty supportive seats. Good luck!

It took me well over a year to get comfortable in the GT1 seats (2LT trim). .. I'm 5'6" and about 160. I have the side bolsters all the way open as otherwise they seem to pinch.

There are so many adjustments!.. I tried a seat pad to lift my *** up so the curve of the lumbar support fit better. No help... .. I cut pads 1/8" thick just the size of the back pad next to the upright. I used 8 of them so I could raise my but 1" but in increments. .. I was finally able to get comfy, and after a while when all the other adjustments got set, remove that padding.

Along the way I used both presets, 1) as an upright, attentive setting, and 2) as a more laid back relaxed driving style... and switched back and forth on long (2 hour or more) drives. I've since settled on setting #1 after a coast to coast trip and back.. 8 to 10 hours a day over the course of 10 driving days.

I've had the car for nearly 4 years and was making a minor adjustment even today. .. .. ..

2023 Z-51 coupe here with the GT2 seats.
I drove My car home from Kentucky and the last day I ran 1120 miles and I was not stiff or even sore from sitting in the seat for most of the day.
You get them properly adjusted and you have a very ergonomic design that works great for open road touring.
