I added a Uniden R4. Originally I ran the wire from the socket under the glove box. Then I found this.

https://fitdvr.com/collections/chevr...adillac-d3-019

you can get it on Amazon, also added a USB port, which is nice.

I had a Fitcam on my last car and it was great.

There are actually statutes concerning what are considered, "Jack Rabbit Starts".

In PA, I believe it's "Exabition of Speed"

2 suggestions. Get a Valentine radar detector - the arrows help you understand where the threat is and it is a compact and excellent detector. Consider power from the mirror and mount it high / next to the mirror. It wont be easy to see from the outside but perfect for the driver. Very good solution. Also consider using Waze through your app to get early heads up as well. The combination should give you the best protection

Half the price, smaller and lighter.
Pair it with a Bartallama3D Mount: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tor-mount.html
for $30 and you can grab the mount with the detector in it and have it under a seat or such in 15 seconds.
Works so well I bought a second one for my daily driver.
You will not be disappointed!
agreed. Def look at the R4. Best bang for the buck. Also did a wire tap for the mirror so I have it suction cupped to the windshield up near the visor. Less obstruction. In NY it’s illegal to have it mounted to the windshield (stupid being almost every NYer has a ezpass) but I’m looking at visor mount just to have in case. But it saved me more than once in just discovering where one may be sitting in a school zone, or residential road where u don’t realize u are slightly over the speed limit. In a vette, u easy target.

The amount of misinformation and ignorance posted on the internet is frightening.

Out in the middle of nowhere I've had my Escort Redline start going off, so slowed down, kept going and going, saw nothing, was just about to speed up when I saw the LEO sitting off to the side of a ramp, it was almost 5 miles from where I got the first warning. The Redline has always been known for its long distance reception, but its almost too good as it goes off way before you really need it.

Laser from a LIDAR gun is a very narrow beam typically only 2-3 feet across or so at a distance of 1000 ft from the LIDAR gun and it's typically targeted by LEO at the bumper, front license plate or headlights so it's not actually hitting the RD laser receiver on most shots. Many RDs are mounted high on the windshield so they are typically outside of that beam hence the lack of alert, and this is true of most brands of RD. If the lidar operator shot higher to where the detector was inside that laser beam it would likely alert to it, although way too late for you to slow down, as the gun will acquire a speed faster than you can react to slow down in most cases.

I have observed a lot of Laser testing over the years, and most RDs catch only a very small fraction of the shots during those test runs and usually it's not the initial LIDAR hit and the RD alert will catch a glimpse of it at some point during the test.

Installed an R8 and already saved me some heartache.

I used the mirror tap from Amazon. Once I popped the cover off of the mirror, there are two options. Either pull one of the rubber bumpers out and run the wires through the hole (what I started to do) or simply run the wires out the top of the cover (there is plenty of room on my 2025).

With the cover removed, the wire tap is east. Red to red on the top row and black to black middle of the bottom row.

I bought a visor clip made to hold your sunglasses off Amazon for Les than $10 and used a wire tie to hold my R8 in place. It is solid and works great with zero visibility issues.

FWIW. Best Pic of the Plug Back I have seen!
I installed similar on my 2020 C8 from a Video made 6 months BEFORE Bendmount had their mount or instructions of installing. GM initially said, "mirror power can't be taped" (but the said that for the C7 as well.)

Left is the Pic from Blendmount who called GM who had issued a Bulletin for dealers saying that taping the mirror could cause driver door mirror to fail! They were warned IF that happened it was NOT covered on Warranty.
CAUTION to those installing: YOU WILL NOT see that plug and wires that clearly when you are installing!
Pic right is from an early video someone made, which is all I had. My words placed on video clip.

Next to the "hard to see black wire is a Gray wire." Both hard to see. IF the mirror tap is inadvertently inserted in the Gray Wire the result in pic below. Not covered in warranty!

If the Gray wire is made ground instead of black it will cause the auto dimming driver's door mirror to fail. GM Bulletin to dealers warns NOT COVERED ON WARRANTY

Thanks, @JerryU , I used your site for guidance which was very helpful!

I got lucky on the picture. I took a bunch trying to ensure I didn’t hit the deadly “gray wire” with the ground. I didn’t like the Blendmount and the C8 mirror is very different from my C7. The visor clip mount works perfectly with zero obstruction, plus in total I spent less than $25 on the mirror tap and visor clip from Amazon.

Great Pic, not easy. I tried. I had a small light weight detector for my 1988 and 1993 Vette. I used a clip on the passenger Sun Visor. I powered both from the Sun Visor Mirror light! It was not powered when car was off.

For my 2008 C6 I tapped the mirror and recall it was easy as I used a small wire tap (see Pic.)

I ordered my 2014 C7 Z51 early, soon after the launch January 2013, several months before the prices were out with the only one I found who would quote MSRP whatever it was: Hendrick in Cary NC. Kerbeck where I bought the C6 was not taking "hold a spot list orders" until prices came out which was not until May as I recall. First C7 I saw in person was in August 2013 at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca. They had ~8 Prototypes. Was able to sit in one and after seeing a mirror tap would not be easy looked at the possible use of a Sun Visor mirror. When my car arrived GM was on record saying can't tap the mirror because of circuits that measure inrush current flow etc related to the new battery saving feature.

So removed the Sun Visor and tapped the wires bringing power out to use for the new Detector I just bought. Funny GM was right, it that case all looked fine, no shorts (checked many times) BUT the minute the relatively low current the Detector draws was plugged in it tripped a breaker or circuit of some sort. Wasn't a fuse, was not one I found. BUT fortunately after about 10 minutes it reset, power was on the light BUT when I plugged in the radar detector power was lost for about 10 minutes. At a local automotive parts house, machine shop etc when I bought some parts asked the fellow there who is very sharp. He said yep we're having similar issues with other new GM cars. Finally someone successfully taped the mirror and that is what I used!

Used on C6 (also on my Street Rod I wired from scratch!)

I use a Uniden R7 as well.

Its true that laser is just telling you you have just been clocked for speed. So use Google maps or Waze with it.
No need to hide it unless you live in DC or VA on east coast but there maybe more elsewhere?. If you get pulled over driving thru DC or VA just shut it off and tell him if he says anything that its illegal to use them here so you always shut it off while driving thru. You will be on body cam making your case and he will have to prove you had it turned on. Not possible. But chances are that you never got pulled over because you had it on and you slowed down before he clocked you.
Use a mirror wire tap like others posted. Its a clean install and its much less visible. Mount it as high and tucked in by mirror as possible.

I love it mounted on the visor. No chance of it falling, not visible from outside the car. I keep a hat handy for when I would otherwise be using the visor.

I did as well but when I bought the latest and greatest from ESCORT for my 2014 C7 Z51 did not realize it was very large and no visor clip. Really too heavy for a visor.

So for my two C7's taped the mirror for power and used ECORT large suction cup "Sticky Mount." Worked great, never fell when driving. But IF parked facing the Sun on a HOT day, the air in the cup heated and it fell. So made a tether I used on the two C7s I had for ~8 years and for 3 years on my C8 (Pic from C8.) Then when my TV Mirror failed, actually the camera failed, and dealer first ordered a new mirror so had to remove the rdar power tap. I installed the Radar Detector on the dash. Like location better. Had that for a year and transferred it to my E-Ray where it has been for 13 months. IF I park in a "bad area," seldom in my case, easy to remove with only a wire showing at the windshield.

Install for 3 years on 2020 C8 with mirror power tap. Used a Stainless Fishing Leader as a Tether so when parked facing the Sun on a Hot Day IF the air in the suction cup heated and the detector with "Sticky Mount Fell" it did not hit the Dash! Would happen 4 or 5 times a summer.

Switched for 1 year on the C8 to this dash mount. Power from 12-volt receptacle under passenger dash. Used a flush mount right angle plug that fits flush. The wire is in D shaped rubber molding that has 3M adhesive on flat side. Wires hidden util they appear at windshield,

I plug it into the socket below the glove compartment. I picked that mount because I didn't want to mount it to the windshield or rear view mirror and hardwire it or have dangling cables. The infotainment mount is clean, out of the way and allows me to swap it easily between cars.
I also have Waze up on the infotainment screen.
Will this work if I have a proclip phone holder on the screen already? Any issues with range or rear detection?

Not sure about the proclip. I wouldn't notice any issues as I've only mounted it there; no where else, so I can't compare, sorry.
