New Corvette to get delivered hopefully next month, but with the plant closures, could be a bit longer. In the meantime I am checking on insurance and with all I have learned here NCM is a strong option. I contacted them for a quote and received it back having Hagerty as the underwriter for here in California. I had not heard this in any of the forum posts I have been researching as American seemed to be the one used. I see a lot of the rate you guys state you pay and just wondering if being here in SoCal is causing such astronomical rates here. $1550/yr -5000ded/88k agreed, etc. This is virtually the same quote I get with standard companies using identical limits. I am 72 yo, no tickets/accidents in probably 40 years. For those in Southern California, what have you found to be a good compromise in coverage and premiums?
Thanks for reading this and any input.
Although I asked for 3000 miles, the quote has no mileage limits anywhere, so I am not sure what true limits they are for sure quoting me. I will just have to call them Monday for accuracy on this.
I use Hagerty on my Camaro. It’s agreed upon value with no annual mileage limits. My C8 is my daily, so it’s just with Progressive and NOT a collector car insurance…
I'm not a fan of NCM- they require two primary use cars IN ADDITION to your Corvette if you are a two person household and even if you both work from home. They wouldn't even allow me to count my motorcycle as the second primary vehicle. Very behind the times when only one car is necessary between a married couple if one or both of you are working from home, and not considering other forms of primary transportation.
I have been with Hagerty for years and very pleased with them. Two years ago they contacted me saying one of my Corvettes was underinsured and I should raise its value. My first increase in price in three years this year, nine dollars. Conversations at their headquarters are with perfect speaking English folks that could not be anymore kind. There magazine is a great read. No limitation, agreed value policy.
Thanks to all for your kind and welcome replies. I guess right now I need to decide between an agreed value policy with driving limits or one that is stated value and no real limits for basically the same premium. All your insight is a big help.
And all your help was most invaluable when it came for me in ordering my C8 which I pray gets to me next month!
Thanks for your post and for allowing us to quote you!
In your state, our only available option is Hagerty. Our other carriers have either paused writing new policies in California or exited the market entirely.
i use grundy on my two.. just have to have a normal registered vehicle,, no mileage restrictions no deductable agreed value policy. they were the most cost effective insurance vaires so much by state region within the state driving record and credit score.. happy hunting
I used Hagerty for years insuring limited use sportscars, however when I got my C7 I price checked NCM and they were about 40% less than Hagerty's for like coverage. Since, I have insured the C7 and 2 C8s.
I'm very pleased with them. I have never had a claim, but know a couple who have and they are extremely pleased with the speed and professionalism in the way their claims were handled.

That's about the same percentage reduction when I moved my 63 from Hagerty to NCM, with less restrictions.
