Default Frunk emergency release factory error?

Above you will see it appears they ran a rod through the hole of my release lever. Sorry im not using the proper terms. My battery is dead so I was trying to pull to release the frunk and found this gem of a situation.

Has anyone seen or dealt with this? Id appreciate some help if anyone has any idea of how to deal with this.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like mine. Grab that loop and pull hard. Requires two hard pulls to fully release the frunk.

I can't get my finger in there because what should be the hole is filled with whatever is running through it. It's not the typical open loop I see in all the videos and pictures on this forum.

It looks like the trim button (that black sort of flat round button looking object) is stuck thru the "pull ring" and that is why you can't get your finger in the ring. You need a "trim tool" to pull out what is called a "christmas tree trim screw" fastener. You could use a broad flat blade screwdriver or a pair of needle nose pliers to get under the head and push it up to get it free.
Sorry, this happened to you. That is extraordinary bad luck that the assembler got the trin fastener thru the pull ring.

I have a 2023 HTC, where is the ring located? I will admit that I have never seen anything like what’s in the photos.

Tom
I don't think the trim button is the problem. Like the OP states it looks like there is a rod running through the loop.

In the driver's side footwell.

Many people put a carabiner in it (I used an old spiral key loop) to give some more area to grab and test it out before they need to use it.

After you get it open, buy a battery tender. My car came with the one from Chevy and I plug it in every time I put the car away.

I would suspect that the chances of that happening to other owners is fairly slim. Unfortunately it did happen to you. Good luck finding a solution - may have to have the car towed to a dealer and let them figure it out.

For the OP, to at least get the car started, you should be able to get to the cable from the front wheel well. Have to remove the wheel and wheel well liner, which is pretty easy and then grab it with something and yank twice. You'll probably then need the dealer to disassemble to fix for you for the future. Go to about 7:00 in this video.

Based on this thread, I went and looked at my cable. I was able to find it quite easily, as it was hanging down below the black cover far enough to see it from the open door. It looks like a gray electrical wire.

I had to pull really hard for it to finally open half-way. As others have said, you have to pull it a second time to get the Frunk open all the way. Now, that I know where it is, I tucked it up on top of the cover.

If you don’t want it towed to the dealer, cut the hoop with dykes and pull the cable with some pliers to open frunk.

[QUOTE=2024VETT;1608598471]If you don’t want it towed to the dealer, cut the hoop with dykes and pull the cable with some pliers to open frunk.

Alternatively, remove the black trim screw, pull up the carpet and see if there's enough slack in the pull wire to get the loop off the rod. If not grab onto the pull wire where the loop comes back to it with a pair of pliers and tug.

What is that rod anyway?
