DCT filter question

The change to which you refer applied to 2024 model years and was NOT retroactive. That change split the free service into an engine oil/filter change that can be claimed within 2 years, and a DCT filter change that can be claimed within 3 years. That change also added a minimum mileage of 7000 to claim the free DCT filter change.
Prior to that, for 2020-2023, it is/was a combined service that expired in two years, with no mileage limit. Many of us had to claim the free service well before 7000 miles (I got mine at 2500 miles). Some dealers try to tell customers that there is a minimum mileage limit for those model year (2020-2023) but that is not the case.

I was going to TEST the other mention in the announcement that it's NOT free unless you have 7000 miles. The Service Manager thought they could get reimbursed. BUT since my E-Ray is now driven in Rain, instead of having the DCT filter changed, as I did in my 2020 C8 year 1 at ~3000 miles, I just had the engine oil/filter changed on GM's dime year one with 4500 miles.
- With my 2020 C8, car was somewhat jerky when crawling into my garage (keeping the driver's door mirror tip gap to garage door molding to ~1 inch) at ~2 to 3 mph. Until I reached ~1000 miles after which it was perfectly smooth. I thought that was probably due to the high spots wearing in 1st gear as it MUST slip below 4 to 5 mph or the engine would stall. Wanted the free Flush prior to the free DCT filter change to remove possible clutch "stuff." Knew I would have to have it done again before I reached 8000 miles (which I did year 3.)
- With my E-Ray I still crawl into the garage watching that mirror tip to wood door molding and rubber weather seal gap. Frankly even more so as that wide rear fender gets close as after making a "K" turn from the driveway as it's NOT perfectly perpendicular.. In fact the garage door rubber weather molding is painted house white and paint can transfer to that left rear fender (ask how I know? But comes off easy!) No jerky movement from day 1 with the E-Ray. Perhaps they improved the multidisc clutch plate surface finish?
PS: For OP, would even be worse if you had ~6500 miles and had it done! Yep GM's warranty, GM's rules. Can always self insure as I do for many things. Just be ready to spend ~$20,000 when GM turns down a warranty DCT replacement!
BTW I think that narrow DCT filter change window is specified by Tremec as part of their supplier agreement. In the case of a warranty failure, Tremec probably has to supply a new DCT AND pay whatever GM gives the dealer to install during. Not so easy to think GM will just cover.
